Message to Audley Harrison....

For God's sake, swallow your pride and sign up with someone in this country who can take you to genuine title shots: someone like Chris Sanigar, who you work with anyway and who has boxing links with Matchroom and Sky-TV.
Why are you so paranoid about your own independence? Not everybody's out to rip you off or get you bumped off. You've done a good job of creating those monsters for yourself.
As Flawed genius said on an earlier post: you're not entertaining enough, not even good enough yet, to act like you're the second coming of Chris Eubank. You're wearing too many hats, mate. Stick to boxing, and let others make the correct decisions for you, pick the right opponents for you. If you think I'm wrong, think of another cocksure southpaw who thought he could do it his way: Bobby Vanzie. Where did it get him? He's headed for boxing oblivion. You too, unless you act now. Christ, you're not 22 any more! You're 32. Do you want to end up boxing in the States on undercards for the rest of your career? Or in main events in your home country?
You decide.

there are some good points in there. Initially I applauded his decision to go it alone, but it doesn't seem that it is getting him very far right now. Bonin is the last sub-standard European opponent he can afford to face.

Let's see how things will pan out in the states.

If Harrison signed with a promoter who is retained by the Beeb (Ringside or Fight Academy? sorry I don't know much about whose who) would he get back on the Beeb?

Potentially yes, I think this just means the BBC are not prepared to sign any multi-fight deals with him any more.

Somehow I doubt the Aud will be reading, it obvious that the doing everything for me has not worked because allegedly signed up all the British heavyweights and used the press to tell him he was a fraud it would have worked if maybe he had been more flexiable and tried to speed his career along more. I like Audley he is something that most fighters don't have in this country charisma and its often forgotton that he can box (no one give away Olympic gold medals). I hope he dosen't go to America but saying that it may work out for him, no pressure in a foriegn counrty and their are not exactly any great champions around. As I say I like him and I hope he does win a pro Heavyweight title(a real one).

To be honest, I think going to America is a good move, who is he going to fight here, aside from Williams and Skelton, who else is there.

Williams is a potentially dangerous fight for Audley, because although Danny is flaky mentally, when he puts it together, he looks pretty impressive in patches, and he has the power to hurt Danny. Skelton, well, he's a trier I will give him that, but simply will never have the skills to do anything at even European level. Too old and too inexperienced.

Audley going to America won't solve his biggest problem - that he just aint that good.

In this divison it does not matter he is a big heavyweight with good boxing skills and a reasonable punch. He has every chance if he makes the right decsions as I said before he is an Olympic Champion which counts a lot with me.

It doesn't matter that Audley is nothing but a over-hyped domestic level fighter? Come on mate.

And like I've said many times before, I prefer to look at what Audley actually did to win the gold medal rather than automatically accepting it is a great achievment. Alexy Lezin was pissing all over Harrison before that ridiculous stoppage. Audley was very very fortunate indeed.

Dosen't matter if you thought the decsion was wrong the ref stopped it. I prefer to look at the other three fights for example the Vidoz fight where he shows very good hand speed to bloody the his man nose. Look obviously you don't think he will reach the top. I say wait and see and we'll see what happens.

I believe the Olympics were held in late 2000, which means he would have been 29.

29 is old for an amateur, so did he just bully the younger fighters to win his Gold medal?

It is old, but, for a heavyweight, not ancient. Audley won the gold because he essentially mastered the computer scoring system: plenty of eyecatching single shots, plenty of defence, ignore the body, ignore the jab to much extent. That's why it looked like he went to sleep in many amateur bouts. He fought in bursts to pick up points. If you fight flat out as an amateur, the judges don't score a lot of quality shots because they can't press the button quick enough.
Audley still struggles to shrug off the same style as a pro.

I can't say I agree with the amateur scoring system :-?

Me neither, most of the amateur judges are 96 years old and cannot even see the punches let alone score them!

It would be nice to see him do something so he can at least clean up the domestic scene before taking to the European/world level. There are plenty of competitive fights for him in England (Sprott, Skelton, Williams, maybe even McDermott) that would sell well.

His main problem is that he is too careful sometimes. He'll go in and hit an opponent with two or three punches, then dive back on the defense in case they might throw a punch.

So he takes 9 rounds to finish off Bonin when he should have done it in half the time. After he put on that impressive win against Richel Hersisa I thought he might be improving but then he had that sluggish win over Julius Francis, and this fight where he I think he showed us the best and worst of Audley Harrison. Though the bloke did seem to be a game opponent if nothing else.

Still as Bunce and Inverdale were talking at the end it struck me that this could be a good opportunity for him. He's been facing his choice of opponent for big money on the BBC, now he'll move on because he has to..... personally I think the proposed fight with Skelton would be a good thing for Audley now. And don't forget Skelton will probably want to take big name fights too because he is even older then Audley is.

Who do you suppose can make the "correct decisions" for Harrison? allegedly? Don't make me laugh, that twat will have Harrison boxing the same stiff's he's been feeding himself on the BBC.

Going to America is a good idea, because it will give Harrison some more exposure. If he's gonna sign for any promoter it should be an American one anyway, because none of the British promoters will take him anywhere besides Bethnal Green for a pie and chips.

Well- AH is richer than Danny and all the other UK heavyweights put together..

Made great sense to go it alone.

He may be frozen out but he can still do something..

Why shouldhe have a promoter when he is a big enough name already?

Why pay a greedy toss pot ( if the promoter is a greedy TP- not all are ! :TU: )

Who gets the TV money ?. The fat promoter !.

AH takes the risks - AH gets the money !

Fwank Wrotten starts a campaign to slag him off and the BBB or C never say anything.

Fwankly speaking - someone is ruining British boxing...

Who dat ?.

Witter Vs Hatton

Harrison Vs Danny Williams.

How do you know?

I thought we all knew ?.

What doyou think was Sorotts best ever payday ?.

DW ?.

Remember - AH got £1,000.000 for his first 10 fights - plus he promotes - plus he gets the TV money and rights.

Even after all is said and done -stoppages etc - he has earned Millions !

It is true..!

DW has earned a decent amount but never gets the sponsorship- tv money - rights - etc etc..

As someone once said - the promoter gets 4 times the money the fighter gets and AH is the promoter as well !

Must be my accounts mentality working - but believe me..

It is true !

whatever u say bout audley( and for the record i reckon he isnt THAT good but if lamon "big punch but not much else" brewster and john "hold me close" ruiz can be world champs i have to give harrison a shot) he has benn good for british boxing and generated more interest amongst the non hardcore fans and non boxing fans. I know loads of people who have started watching boxing just because its on the beeb....
