Golovkin is kinda heavy 30 days before the fight

Golovkin 172 lbs, Murray 169 lbs.

30 days before Rubio fight, GGG was 165 lbs, now he is 7 lbs heavier. New training plan or just not taking Murray seriously ?

He might just have not bothered to cut for it, knowing he was already inside the 176 limit. He'll probably weigh something similar on fight night.

I am not sure GGG has it in him to take an opponent lightly, I am sure he works incredibly hard no matter who his opponent is.

Although I don't think Murray will win, I think he represents Golovkin's best opponent to date. It will be interesting to see how durable Martin can be.

Cutting the last bit of weight is all about timing, it's nothing to worry about. Gennady will be on point, he knows the durability of Murray.

Which shows how big of a guy 3G really is but he wants to fight a 146lb Mayweather who walks around at that same weight. It's no new training plan, why does it have to be some type of science or nutritional thing going on with him, why can he be at his normal walk around weight before he gets his final cut in?

3G will lose the weight and be well within his MW limit by the time the fight rolls around but he is naturally a LHW.

In previous camps, he was normally coming to a camp around 170. Now, he is two pounds heavier after a month of training. I suspect that he gained muscle and will never go down to 154.

That's pretty amazing you can tell that from a 2 pound difference.

My morning weight varies 2-3 pounds in the same week, depending on water weight, needing to crap, etc.

Perhaps a sign of intent to move to SMW

Again you have confirmed that he is a natural LHW and has no business calling out a small WW, he should be feasting on the likes of Pascal, Kovalev and Ward, not chasing down someone he outweighs by more than 24lbs.

Murray is a big dude too so this should be a fair enough fight for him and he should move up if he is weighing more like you said he is and within 30 days of his fight, this shows that he will make a big cut right before the fight which could potentially drain him but I suspect that he'll be more than ready.

173 was not typical for him. This is just a recent change. A year ago, he could make 154 relatively comfortably.

You do realize those guys probably all walk around and close to 200lbs. By your definition ward should be calling out wilder.

I'm surprised by these numbers.

Murray is absolutely huge for MW, I'm somewhat amazed he seems to make 160 so easily. I've quietly thought to mysef that he actually harms himself by draining extra to get down to 160 and would have a lot more power at 168.

For GGG to be the heavier man 30 days out shows how hard MM pushes himself in training. He may not be top of the tree but it's not for lack of trying.

... and all that stretching of facts and terms is because KBB starts shaking just from a thought that Floyd could be in the same ring with Gennady. Don't worry, Brut. Even if Gennady could still make 154, Floyd would have never dared to fight him.

You do realize that he has actually gained more weight or weighs more this time around and is 32 years old?? What's wrong with stating the obvious? You guys take offense to anything stated about this guy even if it is true.

All you did was magnify the difference between his fighting weight and actual walk around weight (which is that of a LHW), if 3G fought at LHW weighing 170 he wouldn't have to risk cutting weight to get down to 160 and could actually pick up an extra 5lbs of muscle and still be within the limit.

Why do you have a problem with him being classified as a natural LHW?? Nevermind that Idiot Ikey, he just likes to say dumb sh*t because that's what he is, a dumb sh*t.

Kovalev is a natural LHW, and he walks around 195. Golovkin is still a natural MW, while he was on a smaller side before.

"Natural" means that one's muscle and bone weight allows him to make a certain weight with a reasonable effort, not that he walks at that weight.

The GGG fans get shaky when u bring up natural LH because then he would be expected to fight Ward instead he calls out Welterweights :OhYes:

If GGG is a natural LHW virtually every high level fighter is naturally multiple weight classes above the division they're campaigning in. Andre Ward has admitted that he walks around at a weight that would make him a CW, so should we blast him for not calling out Huck and refusing to move up from SMW for at least two more years?

Some people say stupid things.

actually your right. people srain to gain an un-natural advantage, the best drainers tend to be rated above there status due to there advantages and not there talent.... Chavez Jr being a prime example.

GGG is 2 weeks away from his fight and he's at LH right now, its not hard to picture him fighting at 168. Ward has fights at 168, he has options. GGG has no options at 160 yet will not leave 160 whether its going up to 168 or going down to 154 like so many fans claim he can.

That is why everyone is paying attention to GGG weight, because all we hear from GGG, his team and his fans is nobody will fight him and my answer is this if he were to move to 154 or 168 he'd get his damn fights.

GGG was 4 pounds above SMW a month before the fight and for his last bout he was only 165 a month before the fight; that's hardly an extensive body of evidence that he's a particularly big MW or couldn't fight below 160. To say he's naturally a LHW is nonsensical if you don't apply the same standard to other fighters whose weights in the weeks before a fight are significantly different from their weights immediately before a fight; comparisons aren't worth much if you're using one guy's weight a month or more prior to a bout and comparing it to another guy's weight the day before the fight.

There may be good options at different weights, but some of the points made about him being a LHW are fatuous.

Where did you get the 2 weeks from? The Op states, 30 day weigh in. Its his heaviest but not that heavy considering many 154ers weigh that much fight night. Remember Canelo 172, Trout 171.

GGG would drop down to 154 for a big name. Now Cotto is lineal at MW, and Canelo competes at middle too. He's already signed to fight Chavez at 168 and offered to fight Froch in the UK. Ward will need tuneups, per his trainer. So what are these fights you're talking about?

GGG will fight and stop Ward in a year or two. At this time, Ward is not ready to fight Golovkin. He needs at least a couple warmup fights to get back in shape an remind casual fans that he actually exists. If they fought now, Ward would be a B side by far.
