Welliver Trains REAL LIFE ROCKY!

That's right....the greatest chin in HW boxing history is now on his way to being the greatest trainer in boxing history. Chauncy Welliver and his HW Amateur Patrick Ferguson shocked the US Nationals and captured the Gold Medal even though Pat only had a handful of fights under his belt. The article says 10 going in but I think it was 6 going in and after winning 4 in the tournament he is now a US Senior National Champion after 10 fights. They are now qualified for the US Olympic Trials and will be one of the favorites to win the HW Tournament for the spot in Rio.

This kid is on the rise similar to DeOntay Wilder.....except with much more skill, heart and chin. Keep an eye out for him as he is probably the heir apparent to Wladimir. :box:

I only hope Chauncy has himself trained up a storm for Saturday's fight.

Ferguson looks like a great prospect unlike his mentor Welliver. I don't doubt Chauncy's knowledge of the game. Chauncy has much more potential as a trainer than a champion. They look like a good team.

Welliver is ready to whomp on Sonny Bill Williams and to send him back to Rugby with the cemented notion to never return to the ring again. This will be Williams last fight ever.

As for training, Chauncy Welliver is a rising star in boxing and in MMA. The improvements of the hands of Michael Chiesa and Sam Sicilia are a direct result of working with Welliver. Sam started the year off by using his hands to grab a huge KO win in Sweden on the Gustafson card and then Patrick Ferguson took home the HW Gold Medal at the US Nationals along with the title....Fighter Of The Tournament. He went into the tourney with people saying he did not belong. That the only reason he was in it was because it was in Spokane. They were half right, he wouldn't have been in the tourney if it were held in NYC or Dallas. But they were also half wrong as he destroyed every guy he faced and ran through the other top HW's like a hot knife through butter. And we are talking here about a kid who could not jump rope for more than a minute straight just 2 years ago. He is now the odds on favorite to win the HW US Olympic Trials.

As for his mentor and his HW status......Welliver went as high as #5 in the world with the WBC and WBO. He surpassed every expectation for himself and was for a long period under heavy consideration for a HW Title shot. Nobody in recent memory has ever had such a meteoric rise against the grain of the majority of the knowledgeable boxing fans opinions. Welliver climbed up higher than anybody in the world gave him a chance to climb. And through the entirety of his career.....nobody has ever floored him a single time. People have beaten him on points under the modern rules of sissy action. But nobody has ever proved they could beat him in a real contest where the fight goes on until one man can no longer stand or get up. Welliver would be the Undisputed World HW Champion under the unlimited round rules. No man alive today has the power to knock him down.

Moral of the story.......Everything Welliver Does Turns To Gold. He is the Rumpelstiltskin of boxing. Any pile of straw put in front of Welliver will become a pile of gold by morning. :box:

I just hope that there isn't a free 'all you can eat' buffet near the venue.

Nothing but fat jokes from the lowlife boxrec posters.....all of which would be out ran by Chauncy Welliver no matter how skinny you little punks are. Welliver goes 12 rounds boxing the baddest men on this planet.....you little punks couldn't hit a heavy bag that didn't hit back for 12 rounds....most of you could not last 3 rounds on the heavy bag.

This would make a great reality series for TV. We bring in the lowlife posters who call Welliver fat and film them go head to head in fitness challenges vs Welliver at his gym. Fat guy jumps rope for a solid 3 hours easily while skinny boxrec punk barely last 3 minutes.

Pat Ferguson dominated the best HW amateurs the USA has to offer.....Won his 4 fights with 3 shut outs and a stoppage. Even Clarissa Shields lost a couple rounds and she is the baddest woman on the planet. She was also up in Boxfit checking out Welliver's gym. Which is where most of you boxrec shit talkers need to head too. Instead of talking shit about people who are doing it to it for real, you can take your less than 1 minute of jump roping arses to Welliver;s gym to see if he can turn you into an Olympian too.

That's the biggest thing that peeves me about boxing fans and Welliver. Dude shows he can box 36 minutes no problem over 12 rounds all the time.....even when near or over 300 pounds. The fools talking smack on him could not even last 36 minutes working out to Buns Of Steel. :shame:

U know what peeves me.........dude calls himself a professional and comes in at 300. Then we gotta listen to ur shit and excuses everytime he gets beat. Us lowlife boxrec posters r the fans, we pay to see pros not guys that dont take their careers serious and comes in obese.

Think this post started as praise for a young fighter and trainer who did something amazing. Guys with 10 fights never win the Nationals. Ever. Great job. Welliver is a tough guy but should not come in the ring at 300 ever. Hope he becomes a strong local trainer. People forget his brothers were good fighters. His brother Dewey was a top amateur who didn't take care of himself well in the pros. I remember Richard Steele calling him a future world champ when he was taking guys out in the ams.

I agree 100%. Welliver's obesity is disgraceful. I respect any boxer and respect a guy who is 55-10. Welliver is also a smart guy and may make for a very good trainer/manager. But seriously, lose 100 LBS dude.

This guy(?) Konkpride's got a real bro-mance crush on Chauncey Welliver. Wait! Wasn't that a character in an old Peter Sellers movie? Chauncey the gardener. Forget P4P. The No.1 human punching bag in the sport today is apparently this dude Welliver. He should take a tip from the oldtimers. Several of the oldtimey trainers quit boxing themselves and turned to training young boxers when they realized they weren't going anywhere as fighters. More power to him if he succeeds at that.

This ferguson looks pretty basic from the video. Obviously he's a novice. But a bit early to get excited

Yes he looks raw but is busy and can punch. Beat guys who have been fighting for years. Deontay Wilder still looks incredibly raw but road the best path to a big fight. Old veteran fighters do make good trainers. Thinking of John Bray who was talented but lazy with a drug problem who now is a very good trainer. Do as I say not as I do.....

Chauncy eating at the weigh-ins... you can't make this up.

He also managed to eclipse 300 again.

You people obviously know very little about New Zealand Kettle Korn. Chauncy is quite close friends with the owner and it was all about the publicity for the company. It was Chauncy bringing in a prop. Chauncy takes care of his people very well. It would have been a tragedy if they did not bring in the NZ Kettle Korn and use the moment to capitalize as much as possible.

I remember when Rahman got the Wlad shot and walked out to the ring in a plain white T Shirt......what a damn waste. And you know Rahman had associates that could have spiced it up and capitalized on that moment. Welliver lets nothing go to waste. He is the king of all props.

When the WBO put on the China tours they had Don King, Mike Tyson and many others in on it. Welliver was there too. Chauncy picked up a Panda Hat and started to wear it around. All of a sudden the most popular boxing person there was Welliver and he went on to score some big money fights in China as The Boxing Panda. He knows how to get the ball rolling everywhere he goes.

Sonny Bill is getting crushed....that is the next moment Welliver will capitalize on. SBW is one of the most popular stars in the region and Chauncy is going to get massive amounts of press after a 300 pounder beats his f'n arse. :box:

That was an awesome weigh in. Chauncy is on fire! He is coming to hunt Sonny Bill down and tear him apart. He may be able to run a little bit but there is nowhere to hide! Welliver promised the Knock Out and he will deliver it! :box:

Umm. Welliver lost a unanimous decision.

Chauncey is a cool guy and he loves the sport. Like me, he'll be involved in different aspects of boxing for the rest of his life. Kronk Pride is doing him a disservice every time he posts a retarded, borderline psychotic, open love letter. I hope he doesn't plan on being gay for Chauncey's talented protege as well.

:OhYes: Chauncy gets a lot of ink for a HW not in the top 50. My problem with him is 2-fold: 1) His weight and 2) His BS belts and BS ratings that he use to have. Those things are NOT good for boxing.

On the positives: I have a hell of a lot of respect for anyone who gets in the ring. His record is still a winning one and he takes a good shot and can go rounds. Also, he is obviously a bright guy.

Highlights say it all. Welliver showed tremendous class in the interview at the end of the tape.
