Anyone see any chance that fight could happen with Saul already being on the schedule?

I think Saul vs Manny on Cinco de Mayo kills any fight Floyd could make on that date so not a bad strategy by Saul to takeover that date moving forward legitimately if the fight can get made somehow.

I'd like to see this one too.

It would be a great fight & it's a tough call, although I might just lean towards Alvarez on account of his youth & larger size, but Manny's speed & experience would counteract that.

I'm a fan of both guys. I think Canelo would win, being too big for Manny, plus Manny is getting up there in ring years. I think the only way Manny would win at this point is if the weight loss to 152 drained too much from Canelo.

Manny is too fast for him, it would look a lot like the Rios vs Pacquiao fight.

i'd rather see Canelo vs. Cotto, similar speed levels and the fact that Cotto losing to Canelo would get Sergio Martinez vindicated

Roach is talking out of his ass, and know there is not a chance it will get made. They wouldn't fight Cotto at 150, so they won't fight Canelo higher than that. Canelo has trouble even making 154 anymore. As each year goes by it will be even harder.

I'm probably one of Erislandy's biggest fans on this site, but the answer is he's not a draw.

Boxing is a competitive sport, but there is also the entertainment, getting asses in seats element in there too. Fans always wanna romanticize boxing, but I bet to the boxers its just as much of a grind as some people's cubicle job or barista gig & its more about making money than you'd like to think.

Algieri is not a draw either, and they fought him. I think the same way as Floyd, Manny prefers to fight more primitive fighters. Lara is too sophisticated, so with huge size disadvantage, Manny would have more problems with him than with Canelo.

Because Mayweather and Lara are defensive fighters who don't care if they make a fight horrid to watch in order to stay safe and get the win. Pac is an offensive fighter that takes risks. Not to mention that both are bigger guys than Pac.

Lara fights a defensive defensive but when you look at both Lara and Pacquiao, they're probably equally effective in avoiding punches.

Actually Pacquiao was more effective defensively against Rios than Lara was against Angulo, a similar level fighter.

Manny wins this fight 9-3 or 8-4. Canelo isn't good enough to hang with Manny.

After the Mayweather loss, Canelo's people asserted that he would never again drop down to a catch weight to make a fight happen. And as far as I know, they haven't changed their tune at this point.
I'm pretty sure they're comfy where they are and have no interest in further damaging the brand by dropping down to take another loss.
Despite where anyone stands on the significance or lack thereof, of catch weights, Canelo and his camp have told themselves that the weight drop was a detriment to them, and I doubt they're interested in Pac at 152.

In regards to the original poster who asked if Canelo couldn't land on Mayweather or Lara, why would he on Pacman, Pacman is more willing to engage. Pacman will take more risks on offense. Pacman won't employ the stay on the bike style that Lara did against Canelo. Thus Alvarez has more chances to land on Pacman than he did on Lara or Mayweather. I'm not saying Pacman doesn't have defense when he chooses to employ it, but I just feel Alvarez has a better chance to land on him due to the style matchup.

If Canelo couldn't land on Lara then how was the fight even close? Because Lara failed to land alot on Canelo. Your defense is ineffective if it stops you from being offensive, something Floyd does not have a problem with but Lara does.

Wrong. After Marg Pac said he's done fighting above welter, but after Cotto taunted Pac like "how come Marg gets 150 and not me? Does Pac fear me?", Pac indeed offered 150. Cotto then made excuses about the weight and money offered, and went on to lose to Trout for peanuts and stormed out of the ring
