It's a win/win for me. Without ad revenue I reckon they could get a guaranteed £70 million from this.

They would just bring back box office asap once the 99p's were paid!

Ppv is not only about sky. The promoters get a big chunk as do the fighters themselves

Even if they had 3 x 1million buy PPV's at £18 a go per year, it would still fall short of £70million.......

But why would Sky do this?
They can keep SBO as extra revenue which is very profitable & will likely increase Sky anyway.

The simple fact is that PPV's have shown that they work over here, granted not to the level of America but they have a different TV system over there anyway. People in the past have paid for Boxing & WWE PPV shows & will continue to do so, the issue isn't PPV itself which I don't have an issue with, it's the pisstake when its for a lower event.

If I have to dig into my pocket on SBO I want it like it used to be, a strong domestic card then followed by a USA show featuring stars. Instead idiots paid for Bell/ Clev 2 & Fast Eddie has clicked that idiots will buy anything if hyped enough, so we are going to get more PPV shows in the coming years because of this.

Sky had better add fk all their prices are insulting as it is. One more penny and I scrap the lot, and I mean it.

If you are ever looking to reduce your bill, call them and ask to speak to those who deal with cancellation. My Mrs done it, said it was too expensive and that we were going to use someone else and we got sky half price for 6 months and Broadband half price for 12. Her brother did it before her too.
Once the 12 months is up we will try it again.

Good idea in theory but all that would happen in practice is they'd then just bid 5% more for Premier League rights next time the auction came round.

Sky could increase their boxing budget ten fold without breaking sweat if they thought it would drive subscriptions, the market presumably says otherwise.

What we need is BT sport to get involved.

Yes but all the money (minus tax) would go to people involved in the fights in some way.
An increase in subscription fees would have to be spread far more thinly

Maybe they should do a survey of how important each sport is to subscribers, and potential subscribers, and then distribute accordingly. You can bet most subscribers who put football as #1 most important sport in their package, will stick boxing as #2.

Boxing events and PPV buyers are mostly football fans as well. It goes hand in hand. Sky should piggybag the football. Ads during Super Sunday etc. It's the same audience.

Asking for a price increase? You must be mad.

I'm paying a small fortune every month as it is. I've just cancelled several channels to get my price down. More cuts coming from me, we are being ripped off as it is.

I very much doubt Boxing would be number 2 overall.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Darts, Rugby (Union and League), F1, Cricket, Golf, Snooker, Tennis and WWE got listed higher than boxing.

I always imagined boxing was a popular sport but in the scheme of things it just isn't; I've got sky sports etc but it just isn't worth the money for boxing shown. I'm happier with the warren channel though it's been quiet lately, it should pick up again soon.

Is Boxing a main stream sport anywhere? Mexico perhaps? Even then it's light years behind football.

In Britain and Ireland it's way down the list, and yet it's probably far more popular over this way than in mainland Europe.

I don't buy the sports package and only part with my pennies for worthy ppvs. I'd imagine thete are a few like me out there and this would therefore reduce my ability to watch the top fights.

So in short, no.

Im exactly the same... No way am I paying for Sky Sports subscription... I would be happier if they scrapped boxing on Sky Sports altogether and put it all on SBO (ranging from £5 to £20) depending on the quality of the show!

Boxing, when done right, is huge. Froch-Groves, Haye-Chisora, Klit-Haye were must see events. It's even made the front page of most tabloids plenty of times. It's when you drop down a level the support drops off, a lot... Floyd-PAC will get everyone going again, and then put them off again with a tepid 12 round shutout for Floyd.

Fair point, although boxing fans have to put up with Sky increasing their prices across the board whenever they decide to spend a fortune to win the F1 coverage or keep the Premier League rights.

Boxing fans have always paid a premium to watch a niche sport on SKY.

Sky have just paid over £5 billion to renew their Premier League rights. If my subscription goes up again as a result, I'm cancelling on the fvcking spot.

Cancellation team always. Get rid of hd not worth it. Just got rid of BT sports

Sports.on there. Eurosport used to.be free back in the day. Also sky used to do pick n mix.channel's u can t do that anymore
