Shows full of shite mismatches, inability to put big fights together, every decent fight has to be on PPV and he's just an annoying, arrogant, smug bastard

Can we have a Boxrec whip round to buy you a ticket for his show so you can tell him to his face?

Eddie's done whats best for Eddie and Matchroom.
He's brought boxing back to the City's because his stable hasnt got many "World Established" stars.... so he's taking the tribal route in order to maximise his company (and to be fair his fighters) short term monetary gain.
Out of the likes of Selby, Warrington, Bellew, Joshua, Smith, Smith, Mitchell and the millions of others he only needs 1 of them to catch some of the Hatton magic (albeit with a degree of success) and he's laughing.
His cards have been a mixed bag, but no worse than other years gone by, and his sales pitch is certainly of a higher standard.
I'd like to see Sky allow 1 other promoter 4-6 shows a year just to keep Eddie on his toes, but appreciate that wont happen.

He's took & risked his top draw fighters stateside rather then milk them over here like wazza but people soon forget that.

Nope, he offered them a chance to cash out when it arose. it made them a rapid fire £, rather than a slow burner.
not saying he was wrong to do so BTW.

He sent them over there for a payday to get beat up because there's more money in it for him and he doesn't have to pay to bring a champion over.

He doesn't have to pay them himself, that's a big part of taking them abroad. He makes his cut of the money

In a way it's not right to regard these fighters as Matchrooms top fighters. None of them have been developed by Matchroom. Other people have developed them and they've jumped ship. It's easier to take chances when some other sod has built up the fighter. You have nothing to lose.
The counter argument to the criticism of Eddie sending away his fighters to challenge overseas is Darren Barker.

That won't help the others wounds to heal.

When he first started out, people forget that he popped his cherry promoting Audley against Haye.
He did go back to basics and for example, Kell Brook in his biggest fights at that point had been tucked away on a massive undercard in Birmingham and again on a card in Liverpool. Hearn headlined him in his hometown in his next fight and continued to showcase him in Sheffield and showed that he had more than a handful of fans.
He's done the same with the majority of other fighters he poached.
Irrespective of whether you think the Froch/Groves rematch "needed" to be at Wembley, I can't imagine that he'd have achieved the same under his previous promoter.

After 20 ish years of Sky Sports I cancelled in December as the fights are not competitive or interesting when we are talking about the majority of shows with the marquee names. God knows why but Sky have given him British boxing on a plate with the exclusive deal and he is abusing it.
Obviously fighters know they can either sign with other promoters for less money, less opportunities and limited exposure or if they want to dance in the big leagues they have to go with Matchroom.
So now he has most the decent talent buttoned up and now puts them out in shite fights where you can predict the winner 95% of the time. Then when there happens to be a slightly interesting fight he / they whack it on PPV so no point paying for Sky Sports.
I only watch boxing out of sports so do not miss it. With NOW TV I can buy a 24 hour pass for £6 so on the rare cards that interest me I will cough up £6. If that happens five or six times per year it will cost be £60-£70 rather than £300 per year for Sky Sports.
He talks such utter promotional twaddle too in that Essex wideboy, I'm better than you cos I am a geezer in a suit way that makes you want to smack him

maybe and hopefully the tide may be turning and less well off folk will be able to watch boxing again on free to air ( which you have to pay for in the form of a tv license ! ) with ITV's re-emergance on the scene . From what I can gather there has been bugger all happening boxing wise on sky of late anyway ! and I can see people jacking it in as the previous poster .

I binned SKY off last year after the best part of 20 years.

Like I have said before,I wouldn`t have Sky just for the boxing but I do believe for the most part that matchroom do a good job and boxing on sky is in a far better place then the old ffn days for me.He has over promised and expectations have got higher and some shows are shit like the Leeds one coming up but the fact that Matchroom has gone the arena shows route has pushed the other promoters to do better.Wazza has turned the corner has got some good shows lined up now.
It`s been a slow start to the year an there is still a hangover from the last ppv which was shit I admit but if Sky can get some of the Haymon stuff from America and Hearn pulls of a top show in London on the 25th for Degale then it could be seen as a solid start to the year with the Sheffield show being pretty good on paper.Matchroom seem to have quantity not quality lined up at at the moment. It seems nobody is looking forward to Smigga`s second shot at Abraham through

I have seen lately on here that some people would be happy IF Sky binned boxing,I say careful what you wish for because unless a company like BT take up the dates lost by them, the scene in Britain could be in major trouble especialy if allegedly does bite the dust, people are dreaming if they think that ITV or 5 will the invest the money or time in to boxing that Sky does.

True their was,but I`m still having nightmares over Broadhurst-Haskins.The shows were mostly dire in the end with poor commonwealth title fights headlining, but of course there were a few gems,Rhodes-Moore was great as well imo

didnt Friday fight night used to be on roughly every fortnight ?
and then when allegedly started i hoped that again we would get regular boxing on tv.
at the moment i doubt theres as many as a dozen domestic shows per year shown across all channels.
Does my head in. Maybe the promoters should offer it for free to the TV channels for a while to see if they get decent viewing numbers etc etc and to give the boxers some exposure to build them up.
Would even be nice to just get a monthly round up show, featuring bouts from various events across the UK, that way they dont have the expense of live tv

FFN was on most weeks during the season around 40 dates.Hearn has 20 dates with Sky and I believe allegedly had at least a dozen if not more domestic shows themselves last year plus c5 had between 4-6 domestic shows,so I think between them we got around 40 plus domestic shows last year and hopefully will have again this year despite the slow start.
