What are some examples of timing negating speed?

I don t know if i understand well but if its example of good timing winning over speed, i ll say Bernard Hopkins every win since he is 40. He just know to much about the game and despite getting old and slower he was able to roll with punches place his own and win fight because of it

He timed that left hook brilliantly. Unless you call it a lucky punch.

i dont call that a lucky punch , hes shown that his left hook is his main weapon in most of his fights.

Khan was blitizing him and left himself open not for the first time , he was caught by Doemstic contenders in Britain way before that ,

Timing and good footwork does negate speed. Even a crafty over the hill veteran who had to drop to a catch weight (Julio Diaz) found Khan all night long, dropping him and wobbling him several times. I wouldn't even say Diaz is anywhere near Floyd in any department of skill, so I think we can all guess how Khan vs Floyd would go.

Cotto/Mosley is a great example.

Not sure. Are you saying Cotto timed Mosley? At that point, I thought Mosley wasn't as fast as he was years ago. Even in the Mayweather fight, they kept bringing up Mosley's handspeed when he hadn't had speed like that since the DLH fights.

Does Salido v Lomachenko count? Loma is one of the quickest in the world.

Jackson v Terry Norris - Norris was like lightning in comparison.

Timing alone doesn't negate speed. Anticipation, footwork and ring IQ all have to work in tandem.

Danny Garcia didn't "negate" Khan's speed either, he was getting hit, it was just he wasn't bothered by Khans power and was happy to be hit to get his hooks off.

The timing was bang on though; just as Khan left a gap from throwing a right uppercut, the lefthook landed in the gap he left.

In my eyes he was making a conscious effort to throw at the same time as Khan and time a counter in the midst of a Khan flurry.

Danny Garcia vs Amir Khan for sure. This is why I never understand those people who actually favor Amir to beat Floyd. Floyd gots fantastic timing ability & ain't exactly slow himself. And randomly Danny is gonna be a crafty f#cking wizard by the time he hits 30 years of age.

Reach without the timing to go with it is worthless. Simply having a longer reach doesn't negate speed.
