Nice to see a rugged American travel across the pond and blow out some overrated Englishman.
The veteran Jones had proven his worth by giving Kell Brook hell in their first fight while Rose has done absolutely nothing in his career except get beaten up by Andrade and winning a very disputed split over Maciel.
Rose was somehow a 5-1 betting favorite over Jones, but the American proved that being a real fighter, instead of a propped up one, is all that matters.

Surprised the ref stopped it. He looked super halfass in doing it. Like "uhhh I should stop this, but all these people came to see this guy so maybe I should let it go a lil longer" all while doing the stoppage. I thought he was gonna come up with some random reason he was in there instead of stopping it tbh (& Carson definitely looked like he was expecting some bs reason the ref was intervening besides him stopping it lol).

Definitely a early stoppage & at this level of the game I think you gotta give guys more of a chance. I thought the ref who stopped the Michael Moore Boxcino fight last night did a great job of doing just that in a lower level fight obviously. Moore was hurt in earlier rounds, but the ref gave the kid a chance to try to push through it & win. He ultimately couldn't, but the ref gave him the breathing room to try which is all I think a fighter wants. I don't think Rose was given the same chance Moore got last night.

Having said that sometimes you just need to take a knee if you are hurt & the ref is watching you too closely while taking one too many punches if you got the ability to realize whats going on. The ref gots a sh!tty job & its hard to fault him much when he's erroring on the side of you waking up tomorrow in your bed vs in the hospital.

Standard Ian John Lewis stoppage.

Rose wasn't overrated, no one really saw him as anything better than domestic level.

Guess that adds to Brook's win and takes away from Andrade's?

Certainly doesn't raise Andrade's stock.

I remember another poster saying that Kovalev was a terrible boxer and that he only showed certain qualities people considered strengths of his because he fought poor opposition, yet the same poster didn't have problems lauding Andrade despite his second best win very arguably being against Rose, who is quite limited as this and other fights show.

I know the true verdict is still out on Andrade, but I do think he has a lot of talent and skill that we will see in the next few years. I forget who said it now, but pretty sure it was Virgil Hunter that say Andrade has better over-all skills than Lara. Hopefully we will see more of him against top contenders in the near future.

I'm not sold on him being an elite fighter yet but he seems to have good potential. He also seems to be somewhat of a diva and has priced himself out of some good fights (is he making more by not fighting?).

Yeah, he turned down $400,000 to fight Jermell Charlo back in December, which seems kind of dumb on his part. I hear the fight is back on and will maybe happen in March some time? Good fight.

i thought alcine had a good chance of pulling out the win over rose before that bullshit stoppage in the
very last round. the titles have always played games with rankings but of the 4 the wbo has always been
the worst imo. andrade's win over martirosyan was really close imo and i thought for sure there would
be a quick rematch and i don't get how his defense was 7 months later against rose of all people and
it will be at least 9 months from then until his next defense and probably more. then again i don't see
how danny garcia can fight 2 non-title fights and with no defenses in over a year and still have titles.

i think there is a reason why andrade isn't fighting and it's not because he's a premadonna.
he wants to angle himself in for a big fight and cash in and doesn't want to fight the top guys.

Guys, I ain't a Brian Rose fan, I think he's average to be honest but the stoppage if you haven't seen it was complete and utter bllx. Might as well make boxing a non contact sport.

This is why the refs need to be wearing a mic over there, Rose was not totally out of it but he was clearly in bad shape and taking punches without clinching or fighting back.
If Lewis told him to fight back then waited a few seconds before stopping it he was justified.

Jay Nady does that, if a fighter is in trouble he'll tell them to fight back and if they don't he stops it a few seconds later but they have him wearing a mic so everybody hears that.
A hurt boxer that is not clinching and does nothing when the ref says he needs to see something has no right to complain when the ref pulls the plug on him.

Fighting back when hurt is not recommended unless the fighter in trouble can sense the ref about to step in,hold, spoil or tie up is the best bet or take a knee is what I would recommend

The ref didn't like the look of him when his legs did that little wobble I guess. Extraordinarily premature stoppage though, even by UK standards.

A motivated Carson Jones is, to me, > Brian Rose but you've got to let the fighters fight at least a little bit to prove it one way or another. Rose was nowhere near as hurt as Carl Froch from the KD in the first Groves fight for example.

I didn't say it was but since he isn't wearing a mic we don't know if Lewis told him do something before pulling the plug on him.
We've all heard refs say "fight back", "show me something" or other things that let the fighter know the ref is about to step in.

I don't think you can fault the ref much here. Like I said in a earlier post the ref's erroring in the side of caution is the difference between Rose waking up in his bed or in the hospital tomorrow. If Rose was clear headed he shoulda took a knee with the rules being what they are.

And another thing notable here I didn't bring up previously, but feel just as strongly about is if Carson had been the guy early stopped this wouldn't have been talked about after 3 minutes on the telecast (& when this happens to the B side cat, who's almost always the guy on this side of early stoppages, its done & not mentioned within minutes of it going down). Brian was supposed to win so they ran replays like they were explaining the zapruder film over this stoppage. Its not a ideal stoppage I'd certainly agree & the ref would lose points on my ideal ref rankings, but the fact of the matter is is the ref has to make millisecond decisions & Brian (Carl wasn't in this fight lol) wasn't giving him much of a reason to not stop the fight.

Both fighters deserved the fight to go on, both for opposite reasons
