P4P List

So they removed Andre ward and they put Golovkin in #10.

But in the middleweight rankings Cotto is the Ring Champion.. How can something like this happen? Cotto is above Golovkin in the Middleweight rankings but Golovkin is above Cotto in the P4P list.. They screwed up

They should make Gennady the ring champion now

I wouldn't get too hung up on rankings.

Like Tiny said Sergio Martinez was the previous Ring belt holder. Obviously Miguel beat him therefore he's now the Ring belt holder. P4P is a whole other animal.

Why remove Ward? He is one of the 10 best boxers P4P. He may not be one of the 10 most exciting boxers but all he does is win, when he fights that is.

Bradley seems to be way too high. Canelo arguably lost to Trout and Lara, so he shouldn't be in the list at this time.

BEST and CHAMPION are not the same thing.

Gennady is the best middleweight.
Cotto is the Ring middleweight champion.

They've done things like this before, but I agree with you. It could be possible to rank them inconsistently if Cotto was higher p4p and Golovkin was higher divisional, since Cotto is not an actual middleweight. But to do it the other way around is completely ludicrous. However, they have specific rules about how divisional championships are passed around that sort of bind their hands from ranking Golovkin above Cotto as middleweights.

Ward is p4p #1.....he'll be back to dominating soon. Dawson wasnt weight drained either, just got systematically broke down. Ward will school groves n degale....Froch dont want to be embarrassed again. Soon we will see ward at 175 where he will school everyone else.

I know it hurts the british to see their boys get dominated but u lose self respect when u hate on fighter out of jealousy

Being the Ring Champion does not necessarily mean that fighter is the best in the division. All it means is that said fighter beat the linear champ. Hopkins was the linear aka The Ring middleweight champ who lost his belt to Taylor who lost his belt to Pavlik who lost his belt to Martinez who lost his belt to Cotto. Therefore, Cotto is The Ring champion despite the fact that Glolovkin is widely considered better and ranked higher P4P.

No mistake, Cotto is not ranked above GG in the divisional rankings at all, he is the champion which does not mean he is the best, that does not place him higher in the rankings.

I seem to recall Carlos Baldomir being champion at Welterweight and no one thought he was even top 5. Happens ALOT! Cotto could fight a guy ranked 30 and get DQ'd and are you then telling me that new champ being listed as the champ is considered the best?

How is taking the Ring title from any reigning champ and just GIVING it to anyone else fair?
Best does not, never has and never will equal champion. The best becomes champion when he defeats the reigning champion or wins a vacant championship.

It was Cotto who beat the reigning Ring champ, he took that title from the previous champ now it belongs to him until he gets beat or vacates it.

When you are a middleweight fighting at CATCHWEIGHTS against WELTERWEIGHTS you dont DESERVE that title.. Strip it off and give it to the next in line. Cotto is a joke for the 160 division

The Ring has its rules just like the alphabet groups.You have to win their title in a match.
Could you imagine the WBC saying we know Wlad is the best heavyweight.So we are just
going to strip Wilder of the title even though he won it fairly in the ring.
It doesn't matter that Cotto holds that belt GGG is the Middleweight king.One day they will
either fight or Cotto will lose to someone and GGG will beat them for the ring belt.
But until then Cotto holds it.I don't see what is so bad about it.It means absolutely nothing

That's an unfair way to remove him, using that analogy one could easily say you should remove a bunch of others from the list. Some people believe it was arguable that Mayweather lost to Maidana in the first fight, many thought that Pacquiao lost all of his fights to JMM but neither man was moved off or down the list because of it.

No matter who he fights the fact that he won the title IN THE RING makes him more deserving than anyone that would accept a title being just given to him.

Yea Defeating a 39 year old with Knee Problems and defending the title against welterweights, That is what I call Paper champion.

Vacate the title and gtfo the division

Of course, Sergio's knee problems weren't Cotto's fault, but a decision to fight that particular MW champ was made based on him looking shot in previous fights. Defending against WW's has no excuses. Cotto has a right to fight anybody he wants, but not for a MW title.
