Its almost assured of disappointing fans as effed up as that sounds. When the hype is so big for a fight its gotta be some Ward vs Gatti, Corrales vs Castillo sh!t & then some to live up to the hype.
I would say that even if the fight isn't all that good it won't be disappointing if Manny wins since so many people watch Floyd fight to see Floyd lose.
So its possible it won't disappoint, but odds are it will cuz its unlikely to be a Gatti FOTY back & forth battle & I tend to think Floyd is a big favorite to win.

Gonna look more like Floyd vs Gatti or Corrales.
This wont be close...

Much better fight than Mayweather-Canelo which hardly lacked for hype.

It will not be "exciting" in terms of what happens in the ring.
It will be exciting in terms of what it is; two of the top guys in the sport going at it.

I think it will be a very exciting fight. It's not like either guy has one foot in the grave. Top 2 welters squaring off.

I don't understand why people say this. Even current form of Pacquiao is better than both at their peaks.

The biggest disappointment is that the fight isn't happening in March 2010, when both fighters were still in their primes.

Less so, than if they hadn't made it. If the fight catches light before the middle rounds, could be a classic.

Yet I bet everyone that moans its lost its interest still rates Floyd and Pac as the top 2 pfp. I've been saying for over a year now that Golovkin is the pfp king, in his prime and knocking mw's out without even trying. On one hand Floyd Pac are pfp 1 & 2 yet on the other are well past it?

I'm already sick of hearing people say that this fight is going to suck and "it should have been made 5 years ago". It wouldn't have made half the money than it's going to make if it were made 5 years ago. I wish people would really just shut up now and just be happy that we are finally seeing these two get in the ring together. I was really worried that we'd never get the chance to see this and we'd have to wonder forever what would have happened but now, we don't. This can't be a bad fight, not possible, so people just shut up. If you are a legit boxing fan, you will suck in every second of this fight and appreciate the chess game inside the ring that this will be. This isn't going to be Ward/Gatti or Bradley/Provodnikov because these two guys actually have defensive skills..
I do see these two throwing less punches per round than the average Welterweight contest but its going to be because the pressure is going to be so great. Tactical, Skillful, Measured, that's what this will be about. I'm in Manny's corner but I do have him as a severe underdog in this one. Floyd is twice the counter puncher that JMM is and we all know how bad Manny struggled. But I do wonder about the Southpaw and Speed factor that Manny presents to Floyd. Bob Arum, the blowhard, promoted Floyd for over 10 years and did say that Floyd's team was very stern about Arum not putting Floyd in with any Southpaws or above average speed.
We'll read about all sorts of garbage like above in the next few months. I do wish that the people crying about the pricetag of the PPV and how boring it's going to be, would shut up and watch soccer. This is going to be a great night regardless.

I believe it will not match the hype, as they are both past their respective bests & have no history in the ring together.
I predict that it will be like Leonard -v- Hagler.
Take away Leonard's remarkable achievement; the two protagonists & the circumstances surrounding the fight & you were left with an actual contest that although it wasn't dull, it wasn't that spectacular either, but an event that was humongous.
I think this fight will be similar, because we've had to wait so long & the two of them have no ring history.

If how much money the fight is going to make is your only concern, then fair enough, but I believe most fight fans don't give a stuff about such things.
They should have fought five + years ago, without doubt & had they done so, they'd probably be on their 3rd meeting now & seeing as money is what is most important; how much would three massive superfights have netted by now?
I shall certainly be watching it, no doubt, but I & I believe that many other reserve the right to bitch, whine & complain to our heart's content about the fact that these two & the clowns that control them have denied us the opportunity to see them square off when they were still in their primes.

Casual fans have little to no idea that Pac and FMJ are beyond their primes. They don't know or care. This is the Leonard v Hagler of our time. I knew both of them were beyond their best going in but nearly nobody else I associated with knew that or cared.
We the day to day fans can bitch and moan and howl at the injustice of it all, but the only ones listening or caring will be us.

It's like 97% likely to disappoint fans. Given the hype, the price tag, the amount of commercial promotion that is sure to come, the p4p significance, etc.; there is no way that the actual action of the fight could possibly approach that. For this fight to not disappoint, the action would have to be as prolific as McClellan - Jackson, Hagler - Hearns, Corrales - Castillo, etc..

Floyd couldn't pull a Gatti/Corrales performance against Guerrero/Maidana, who are lesser fighters so I fail to see how this version does it against Pacquiao. And before anyone mention, (he will be motivated), I guess he left the motivation at home for the DLH fight.

When the final bell rings, I suspect fans will look at each other and ask "Is that all there is? We waited 5 years for that?"
Manny's no longer a punching dynamo, and Mayweather is always loath to take chances in the ring. He doesn't figure to change his spots for this one.
It will be a tidy exhibition of boxing by Money, but fight historians will never rank this bout highly among dramatic Superfight classics.

Is it unreasonable to believe that this could be the most disappointing fight in the sports’ history?
How on earth can a fight involving two near middle-aged men, who have both failed to score a legitimate KO in the last five years, possibly warrant the hype that it has received?
My expectation for this fight, in terms of excitement, is going to be quite low indeed!

Middle aged men that beat and still can beat many fighters in their class... its the best offensive fighter vs the best defensive fighter of their class... your statement can be understood but it's flawed... what other 2 fighters are out there that are at their prime that you would rather watch? You dont seem like a boxing fan and If u have low expectations then dont watch the fight go watch ufc

yes of course. after this much time and so much hype, nothing short of the #1 match of this decade would be a disappointment. Also, we're seeing worn down versions of both guys. Floyd will win fairly easily I believe. I don't think Manny has the reflexes, speed, or stamina (he always cramps it seems) to press the action and consistently harm or fluster FMW

Seeing how the average fan (and some of you) think that boxing is supposed to look like a Rocky movie, I'd say there's a good possibility that "they'll" be bored by the 5th round.

They are NOT 1 and 2 P4P unless you look at resume rather than recent performance / quality.
BOTH are past their best.

In terms of entertainment value, I think the youtube videos of the Pacfan group reactions will be ppv worthy.
