All this talk of big stadium fights having to be in the summer from Eddie Hearn im a bit confused at why the Millennium Stadium doesn't get a mention? if the fight is big enough say Degale v Groves Khan v Brook people will travel to watch it and with the roof shut it can be used any time of the year!

I've often thought the same.. Maybe it's something to do with the venue having trouble with being paid by certain promoters. I think it was the Calzaghe/Kessler fight that money wasn't forthcoming and then the promoters company went out of business. I've put a link up about it in the past.

So maybe the WRU (who own the stadium) want to steer well clear of the fight game..?

Some people might travel but not in their 10s of thousands. You still need to be in a fighters catchment area or in the big smoke.

Cardiff for 80% min would mean ticket, travel, accommodation and the travel isn't always straight forward.

Good point the South Wales public is very apathetic when it comes to boxing (all sports really) even when Calzaghe fought Manfredo I'm sure there was 'only' 30k in the stadium. And the Kessler fight 'only' drew 50 odd thousand when the stadium without the pitch seating holds 74,500

Shame really because the stadium is the best I've been in.. (including the new Wembley) and it'd be perfect for a big boxing show.. Plus the city is a great night out.

Less stadium fights the better imo.

Not disagreeing with you there it was a great success but it didn't sell out the stadium and compared to Froch/GrovesII at wembley.. What was that 80 odd thousand? I'd call that a huge success.

I'd call it a one off.
