Cristobal Cruz used to just rain punches. Don't know any numbers, but I remember him throwing well over a thousand in a ten round fight.

Zack Padilla was a non stop punching machine pretty sure he set some sort of record when winning the WBO title

I'd think some of the Lacey - Calzaghe rounds would rate quite highly.

I thought about Padilla when I saw this thread, Troy Dorsey was another one.

Im talking about connect % though, look at canelo vs lara for example.. so many punches thrown so few connected

He was a busy fighter Barry but not in the same league as Padilla, Dorsey or Augustus/Burton.

They must be before my time,I'm ashamed to say I haven't heard of them

They weren't household names but were really good fighters, Dorsey had the best mullet in boxing and was torn apart by De La Hoya, you'll be able to find them, Edwards was a good shout

Edwards threw 1365 punches in a 12 rounder,apperantly Margarito threw 1675 against Clottey

Dorsey v paez 1 and 2 had an insane amount of punches thrown

dorsey also had no defense, was very tough, and never stopped coming, which made his fights great.
he was on the short end of a few bad decisions, imo.

at first i wasn't sure if he was talking about one fighter or the total from both fighters.
i can think of lots of high volume punchers and just need to think of some of them in
with active opponents. algieri is very busy but provo was throwing like 3-4 punches a
round, for example. i'm trying to think if it was matthew hilton who fought buster drayton
but i remember one of those fights back then where they would take turns going into
a shell and the other would chop away with like 10 hard shots upstairs and downstairs,
like the whole fight. the valentines day massacre robinson must have hit lamotta with
a million head shots in one round and it was scary how lamotta took them. i heard
lamotta isn't doing well but he's got to be well into his 90's. of course corrales and
castillo had some wild rounds

there were a couple of rounds in Arce - Hussein which could qualify either fighter, from memory

but most where probably on clottey's high guard:). I think the record for punches LANDED would probably against a more easy to hit fighter.
