Hall of Fame worthy fighters? I've been examining the IBHOF inductees, and I am not sure I agree with a number of the inductees in the HOF. As such, I was wondering what criteria and methods people thought would be most useful in helping to determine whether a fighter was truely HOF worthy, or fall below HOF status.

They don't have any criteria. I was on the selection committee for old-timers and non-participants and each year we were simply presented with lists prepared by someone. For some years, there was little doubt that the electees were deserving and should have been elected at some point. When Harry Harris was chosen I resigned. Under the circumstances, how could his selection possibly be justified?

As to what the criteria should be, they would have to be determined by committee. The list of selected criteria would be rather arbitrary, but at least there could be some publically known rules. More importantly, when will there be a cutoff in the categories (except moderns)? My guess is never, so long as the HOF continues, because they want publicity each year. The honor will be less and less significant. The HOF is a business venture and the honor has a shaky foundation at best.
