Sad scenes at Sheffield on Saturday.

The full video is on the facebook page for 'Against the ropes - Boxing Writer & Tipster'. I can't post the link though for some reason.

The report doesn't mention it was the support fight that caused the brawl.

A wild one round shoot out between Muheeb Fazeldin (6-0-1) & Uzair Najib (5-1-0) for the central area super-bantamweight championship. Bad blood in the build up, and watching the video, it's clearly the nut case ( cornerman ? ) for the winner Fazeldin who caused it by jumping into the ring and swinging a sucker punch at one of Najib's cornermen...he needs to be banned for life.

Absolutely wild fight, check the bloke in green who jumps into the ring when the ref waves it off...

It was Fazeldin's trainer that came into the ring in the green top, the lad he tries to punch is just a fan out of the front row who decides to get into the ring and move towards Fazeldin. Trainer shouldn't swing for him but the guy that jumps into the ring is at fault IMO.

Agree, trainer could argue hes protecting his fighter as the fan is clearly heading towards him.

Its hard to tell whos fans and who's people from each boxers corner. At the Flannagan/Ormond fight the other week a Flanagan fan managed to get in the ring anxd lift him up in the air before the security then realised he was a fan and got him out. Thing was he had a the same tee shirt on as Flanagan's team as is the case with plenty of boxers now loads of his fans did so can't knock the security for being a bit slow to notice it.

Definitely should bring in some sort of rule limiting the people coming into the ring at the end of the fight. Trainer and the 2nd only I'd go with

One reason why all seconds should have to wear a livery and that nobody should be in the ring after the fight other than the fighters, liveried assistants, the referee, announcer and, where necessary, medical professionals.

Maintaining security is made far more challenging than it could be by all manner of idiots being allowed to leap into the ring. How are they meant to distinguish in the heat of the moment? No need for promoters and other hangers on to be allowed in the ring.

The amount of people in the ring before and after a fight is ine of my pet hates in boxing. Referee, trainers, fighters and ring announcer should be enough. (Medical staff when required)

I like the way the ring is before a ufc fight where the fighters teams hang over the side of the cage instead of everyone just piling in. It also adds to the tension and suspense of the bout. Now you see their trainers, other corner men, promotors, brothers, wives, kids, fathers, sponsors, mates and general hangers on. It needs sorted out, just an unorganised mess.

Security providers should insist on this but they won't because they would not be offered the contract. (As contradictory as it may read) money before professionalism.

Mighty,

The lad in the black t shirt caused a lot of this.

I'm not condoning what Faz's cornerman did but this clown was

1/ On his feet blocking everybody's view from the bell.

2/ Got asked to sit down politely by security - ignored.

3/ Shouted obsceneties at Faz whilst in the neutral corner

4/ Entered the ring at the end when not authorised to do so.

5/ Shouted further obscenities towards team Faz.

He should be very easy to identify.

It was all over in 5 minutes .security sorted it and the show carried on,its not acceptable. every one and any one diving in to the ring but there were more people trying to stop it than what there were fighting so it looked worse than what it was, like I said Dennis Hobson got on the mike and made a statement and it stopped and Ross the Boss was on next

Good point no point everyone overeacting, looked bad as it was in the ring but I've seen plenty worse at shows (out of view) or up town of a night etc for that matter.

Hope that it doesn't reflect badly on Dennis Hobson who I think is a genuinely good promoter.

If one of my mates jumped in the ring if i was fighting id be pulling them up after it and getting them to appologize for the hassle and embarrassing me.

everyones different and its very rare this happens but generally the boxer comands a bit of respect and his mates would leave it for at least out the ring amongst themselves.

stopping Mums entering the ring with handbags is a different kettle of fish though :)

any sort of violence or minor scuffles should not happen, its a sport and Both Boxers on the night were friendly after the show which shows how much respect they had for each other. Dennis does a great job putting on these shows and helping kids get to the heights they reach, but there as been a lot worse it was a few ppl contained in one place and too many ppl trying to help

Yeah I can see the lad in black is heading over to Faz when's he chinned by cornerman...so I retract the banned for life comment, very extreme reaction though....crazy scenes

I agree mate.

However the only way this is going to stop is for identified culprits to be dealt with harshly.

I know that there are scuffles at boxing regularly - but not often in the ring so that makes this worse because it's bringing the sport into disrepute.
