So as it stands the UK currently has carl frampton, Scott Quigg, kell brook, jamie McDonnell and carl froch as world champions. You could add andy lee in to the mix. The previous high was 8 at one given moment in 2007. I fancy us to surpass that this year.
Firstly I don't see any of the above losing lee not included. And any of the following could succeed.
Likely
George groves
James degale
Billy joe Saunders
Chris Eubanks jr
Amir khan
Kevin Mitchell
Terry Flanagan
Paul butler
Lee selby

Possibles
Tyson fury - has kiltshko so a hard task
Tony bellew - think he will fail in his quest
Ola ofalabi - always seems to come up just short
Nathan cleverly - who could he beat for a title at light heavy?
Ovill mckenzie - allegedly may get him a shot, unlikely to succeed
Enzo maccarinelli - if he got braehmer I wouldn't rule him out
Paul smith - unlikely to get another shot
Martin Murray - will he get a shot before years out? He would beat anyone not named golovkin
Mathew macklin - finished imo
Liam smith - will be just short of world class I reckon
Brian rose - Carson jones that is all
Frankie Gavin - frustrating
Ricky burns - could possibly do it if he pulls it off against figurora
Anthony crolla - will get a shot, hopefully in manchester against a weaker title holder
Derry Mathews - Arbil is a tall ask
Stephen smith - highly ranked with WBC, would he beat the champ?
Liam Walsh - allegedly is his promoter so who knows
Josh Warrington - unlikely to fight for one this year
Kid Galahad - knocking on the door,'don't think he's ready for next step
Lee Haskins - surely must get a shot
Stuart hall - will he get another?

What are your thoughts?

It takes a brave man to come on here calling Quigg and McDonnell world champs :OhYes:

Is Froch only a paper champ now? He was WBA Unified champ but he's vacated his IBF so is he now just regular or has Ward finally been stripped of his Super title??

I'd say he's just a regular champ. The whole WBA scenario is a bit mad. If you unify you become super champ but in the case of the super middles. Ward unified to become super champ, the froch later unified so I'm at a loss

Froch has joined the list of paper champions, we're down to Brook and Frampton, or just Brook if Frampton isn't counted as British.

You become unified WBA champion if you win more than 1 belt.

If the WBA think you are doing a good job, then they upgrade to you to the super champion!

Then they have a WBA regular champion which is for just regular champions...

Also they have an interim champion which is kinda like a high ranking position to face the regular champion.

So all completely clear! Why limit yourelf to just 1 sanction fee at each weight when you can have 4!

I wonder if the give Lennox Lewis a cut because it was all his idea when he got stripped for not fighting John Ruiz...

The world title situation in boxing is so ludicrous & meaningless that it's not even worth thinking about imo. I couldn't care less about 99% of the available belts, we pretty much all know who the best fighter in each division is; the titles add absolutely no value except for the sanctioning fees. So it's a bit hard to get excited how many more Interim/Regular champs are in the pipeline, British or otherwise.

To be fair to history to have to take into account that there were only 8-12 champs, at any one time, up until the early 80's. So if the UK had two champs that was 15-25% of the belts.

Nowadays there's close to 100 belts, especially with the WBA having three in each weight, so five champs is closer to 5%.

It's a bit like having a million Turkish lira. Sounds great on paper.

The WBA Unified title is the worst, its just an excuse for the WBA to make sanctioning fees of another organizations belt

My thoughts are that you should take Bellew and Rose of that list.

I only really class Frampton, Froch and Brook as legitimate champions tbh. I fancy Butler to do the business next week and I think DeGale will edge Dirrell when they fight. Selby should overcome Gradovich. I can't see Groves making it as he's not looked too clever since Froch but has a chance. BJS has the tools but I think he should've taken the N'Dam opportunity rather than wait. Khan doesn't seen that interested in belts just money. I would actually like to see Flanagan and Mitchell fight each other. That has the ingredients of a cracker! I can't see Fury beating Wlad just yet but I think he'll have a title eventually. Galahad has the talent but he's in a right hard division. Galahad v Quigg would be interesting. Liam Walsh is a good shout if Fwank can get him a shot.

Because Great Britain is an island consisting of England, Scotland and Wales. Frampton is from Belfast which is Northern Ireland so he's a UK'er as it's the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland but not British because he's not from the island of Great Britain.

Yep, although the original post did say UK rather than British anyway, so Frampton is definitely covered.
