With this fight being only a week away pretty much. Any news on wether skys etc are gunna pick it up??? Or did I miss something and not see it announced??

It's not looking at the moment. Virgin Medias TiVo EPG confirms B0xnati0n are showing Shiming Vs. Ruenroeng in the small hours of Sunday morning that weekend, which would suggest they haven't picked up Thurman vs Guerrero. It also shows SKY Sports are showing a repeat of Tommy Coyle Vs. Martin Gethin in the wee hours of the morning too.

I'll have a proper dig around the EPG when I get home, just incase it's on a surprise channel like 5USA, Eurosport or Premier Sports.

If SKY have it, I'd expect them to announce it tonight on Ringside.

If BN don't get it on even if it's shown the next day due them already buying the Zoo fight

Really? Theres 2 shows on each weekend for the next two weeks, there was shows on last weekend and the weekend before.

People moaned before they didn't have enough domestic shows on but that definitelly seems to be picking up

Well, I mean on average since the start of the year, in fairness it has picked up now and hopefully it will remain that way.

The Shiming fight is on Saturday afternoon UK time so Box-nation could still pick up this show.

If they did it would be one impressive weekend (3 shows) from Box-nation

January is always quiet across the board Sky only had 1 show in that time and that was late in the month

I see Thurman v Guererro as one of those "watch the first round then fast forward to the 12th" kind of affairs.

Provodnikov v Mathyesse on the other hand...

I mean, couldn't a channel just come along and bid £100 to for the UK TV rights??? If no-one else is bidding on it then surely the lowest bid wins, no??? Unless theres some kind of 'ebay like reserve' on it, and all the UK channels are thinking its too high! Does anyone know EXACTLY how it works???

BN often bid very late for shows; Buncey has previously tweeted in the past that they're still trying to secure rights as late as the Thursday or Friday. I've not seen any rumblings of them bidding for Thurman vs Guerrero, but perhaps something's going on behind the scenes (not holding my breath obviously). As far as I'm aware, all the other channels do their bids well in advance, so BN is likely our only hope of seeing this one.

As BN don't have Sky's resources, a BN bid would pretty much never beat a bid from Sky/ITV/whoever, so usually the only time BN get a fight is when no other channel has bid for it. Also, don't forget that BN never send their announce team over there like Sky would - all BN are buying is the rights to broadcast the US TV feed in the UK, John Rawlings & Barrie Jones will just be sat somewhere in the BN offices doing commentary over the top of it. That's why BN can sometimes secure rights very late, whereas Sky don't operate in the same fashion. I mean, who'd want to watch live boxing from the US without Adam Smith stood gurning at ringside?

I've noticed that BN secured the rights to the Andy Lee vs Peter Quillin fight weeks ago, so they must have paid a decent wack for it. Probably because BJS is set (or was set) to be on the card!

Also... who do BN, Sky, Channel 5, ITV, Eurosport, etc. buy the TV rights from??? The TV network (showtime/HBO etc.) or the promoter (GoldenBoy/Top Rank etc.)

They probably got Lee-Quillin cheap as part of the Saunders deal, without their approval the fight couldn't go ahead, at least not with the title on the line anyway.

TV rights are sold by the promoter, HBO/Showtime pay for exclusive US coverage.
