Does anybody think Magee has much of a chance other than a dodgy points decision?

Anybody prepared to lump on the Reaper?

This isn't one to bet on, the likelyhood of Magee being repeatedly shaken up only to cling on and collect an iffy decision is too great IMO.

Reid 10/11 with Ladbrokes, Magee the reverse with totalbet

Just can not see Magee winning at all. But with so many dodgy decisions flying about, I am very hesitant. Still haven't recovered from that fat Belgian fornicate robbing me and the Reaper against Shitty Svennie.

I think Magee might nick a points win - Reid rarely seems to show enough fire when it comes down to it - surprising as his chin is excellent.
But he did in the Calzaghe fight, and if he shows up in that form, you'd fancy him to blitz the seemingly fragile Magee.

Obviously the bookies have no idea which Reid shows up either.

I'm going to plump for a Reid win by TKO round 8. After the dissapointment of the Calzaghe and Ottke fights, and at a late stage of his career, he's going to be really fired up, and he's going to kick Magee's arse badly.

Hats off to Magee for taking the fight though, he could easily have avoided Reidy, who was a bit in the wilderness, but he took the fight wish there were more like Magee in that respect.

Reid by KO is the best bet i reckon, wont get odds for that until closer to fight time.

I'm starting to warm towards Magee. It's easy to look at his last fight and think he has no chance, but Jerry Elliott pushed another southpaw Cristian Sanavia all the way in a 12-rounder a couple of years back (Sanavia just got the nod in Italy and is now WBC super-middleweight champion). Elliot clearly likes fighting southpaws (he's trained by the May brothers...both southpaws).
Reid also likes fighting southpaws of course (Nardiello, Calzaghe, etc) and is a solid all-rounder who has been much-avoided (his last 10 opponents have all been foreign). But at 33 I'm not sure if he's in love with the game like he was in his heyday of the 90's. Christ, the Ottke loss could demotivate anyone.

You have to wonder why Magee's people have wanted this fight so bad. They seem very confident. Maybe they know something about Reid that we don't.

I think they must be banking on their boy to outwork Reid. It's a possibility, but i reckon it might only take one decent punch to spoil that plan.

A part of me wonders whether they've decided to pitch Magee in at the deep end and see if he sinks or swims. At 29, he's the oldest prospect in town.

You could be right Bennie old son, maybe they figure there's not much further he can go unless he can beat someone wolrd class now, why bother.

However, having said that, doesn't magee pack 'em in at the King's Hall every time he fights.

True. Magee has been close to a couple of big fights recently (Glenn Catley, Syd Vanderpool, etc). I gather Reid makes more money posing nude for certain female magazines (and a few men's) than he does boxing. He's a gay icon. Sven Ottke certainly didn't fancy him.
