Frampton

Right you horrible lot. Some of you have shown the courage / foolishness to disagree with me (delete as appropriate - the first option). For ages I've been telling everyone how good Frampton is and that he beats Santa Cruz and Rigondeaux, only for some to ridicule. Now following his demolition of the cocky, irritating tit Avalos, Frampton appears to have won a few people over judging by a few posts I've read. This kid will be one of the best P4P.
Now I want you lot to post below. I want to see who the guys are that have jumped onto my bandwagon and I want to see who the guys are that still think they have superior knowledge of a fighter than I.
Come on, no bottling, grow some balls, show yourselves.

I think McGuigan would rather shit a pineapple than put Frampton in with Rigondeaux. If that wasn't the case then why isn't he really calling for the fight?
Who does Frampton get more kudos for beating, Quigg or Rigondeaux?
Which fight will be easier to get to Belfast? The Cuban Rigondeaux who has no following or the Sky backed Manchester man, Quigg?
Which fighter was wheeled in the ring post fight? Quigg or Rigondeaux?
I wouldn't mind if Rigondeaux had bigger fish to fry, but he doesn't. Gary Hyde is desperate for the fight.
Frampton is superb, he's exciting and fresh. I hope he fights Quigg then Cruz by which time Rigo has buggered off leaving carl to reign supreme.

The problem I think with Rigondeaux is that he's boring and he's not a draw. The risk compared to the reward just doesn't make the fight worth taking unless you've pretty much exhausted other avenues. If Frampton beats Santa Cruz and Quigg then that is the best time to make the Rigondeaux fight.
Frampton will beat Quigg for sure but financially that is a huge fight and a huge payday. I would expect McGuigan to be desperately trying to make that fight.

The reward of beating Rigondeaux is the whole boxing world standing to attention and proclaiming Frampton #1 in the division.
I guess the reward for beating Quigg is perceived to be more ££. But i'd bet they'd get Rigo on as good a financial deal. Rigo has nowhere to go and no bargaining chips.
Biggest risk, naturally, is defeat. And whilst the likely good of defeat is greater against Rigondeaux, a defeat to quigg is more damaging.
If i was Frampton i'd fight Quigg Cruz and swerve rigo for now. But fans want the best fighting the best.

If you're going to make statements about Frampton being the top dog in his division Ian1973, you cant then use the old timers risk vs reward technique when somebody brings up a perfectly valid and obvious point.
I felt the same way with Barry on the tele last night, all well and good they say his name, but you have to intend on fighting the guy for it to have a pay off.
If i were Gary Hyde i'd be offering to pay for my guy to go oneither Framptons or Quiggs undercards (insulting to his stature maybe) to try and build for the fight.

I agree with you in a way mate but it ain't about me it's about promoters and the reality is £££££££££££££££££££££ comes before everything else and a promoter will work to maximise his fighters income. You can't really blame them even if it does frustrate fans.

I still think Rigo is the main man, by a decent margin, but Carl is starting to close the gap hence the conversation ppearing more and more. ITV need a guy like Paullie Malignaggi instead of Dunne or Haye because he has the verbal skills to start building and selling a fight with the Cuban.

I've said for years Frampton will be a top draw! He beats both Santa Cruz and Quigg comfortably IMO. Rigo is a different beast. I think if they can make the fight in Belfast next summer then Frampton will grind out a decision. Quigg has to be next then Santa Cuz but I can't see either of they negotiations going smoothly. If neither fight can be made then McGuigan could do a lot worse than bringing Mares or Donaire over for a voluntary defence. Good names.

Ha, good post - it's good to get behind your man.
I like Carl Frampton and his nights in Belfast rock the place out.
But Avalos... On dear. He was like a 13-yr old, with a smooth physique, bum fluff and had nothing to offer at all. He was Carl's easiest win in quite a few years.
You cannot draw any conclusions about Rigo after Avalos.
Carl should just keep filling out the Odyssey with as many regular fights as he can imo. Maybe look at rigo in a couple of years.
The Quigg fight has already gone cold, they should really try and make that next or stop talking about it. Quigg's different gravy to Avalos, I see that as pretty much 50/50.

You talk about Avalos as though he was a nobody. He was a fighter who had lost two SD's in a 24 fight career who had won an eliminator and a WBO title. OK he might not be the greatest fighter that ever lived but the way Frampton disposed of him was symptomatic of true world class vs potential world class. Would Rigo have disposed of Avalos any easier? I doubt it.

Avalos was tough but not much else. He was very easy to hit and at this level you won't get away with just being tough.
I admit after the Turley fight I had my doubts about Frampton but since then he's took off big time. He's getting better every fight.
Could you say the same about Quigg?

OP comes over as a bit of a wanker to be honest. Displaying unsavoury personality traits. Passive aggressive, psuedo superiority, belief in being better than other people and feels the need to come and shout about it. Oh and we are discussing boxing not curing fcking cancer here.
Anyway, beating Avalos is not beating Rigo. That is like saying Fury beating Chisora is like beating Wlad. No, still got it to prove. Beating a contender is beating a contender. Go beat the champ

Quigg is a much better fighter than Avalos but Frampton did look great; he was a level above Avalos.
It would have hilarious if after McGuigan said "just remember who the real world champion is" and Quigg had been a bit more quick witted and said "Yeah Guillermo Rigondeaux!"
But I feel Quigg isn't enough of a draw to merit a stadium fight. They'd need a stacked undercard to even consider a stadium fight IMO.

Fair play, at least you are big enough to give a decisive opinion.
You are wrong though. ;;-)

I think it'd make a stadium fight. It just needs the right media coverage. how many households had heard of George Groves before the first Froch fight?
Quigg is a decent enough fighter but he doesn't beat Frampton if he's given twenty free punches. It's about levels.

Would have been a brilliant response. Probably wouldn't have helped to sell Quigg vs Frampton though

Sorry, so sorry, but i just couldn't resist.
1 OP comes over as a bit of a wanker to be honest = Well, no-one can possibly know this although i do admit to bouts of self abuse.
2 Displaying unsavoury personality traits - Er, don't understand to be honest.
3 Passive aggressive, psuedo superiority, belief in being better than other people and feels the need to come and shout about it - Hmmm, I have an opinion and I back it. I am outspoken, admitted, but i would expect even relatively dim people to see and understand the tongue in cheek nature of some of comments. I apologise for not catering for those with the inability to differentiate between deadly serious and semi humorous, but hey some people don't get it, I accept that.
4 Oh and we are discussing boxing not curing fcking cancer here. = Err, confused now, who mentioned anything other than boxing???????????????
The rest.................... tbh, can't even be arsed to go over it.

Anyway, I wouldn't get too worked up about Frampton beating Avalos - even Carl seemed to suggest in his post-fight interview that Avalos was a lot worse than he thought he would be.
I'm still not convinced Frampton beats Rigondeaux. Rigo looked sloppy in his last fight, probably because he knew he was never in any danger against an over-matched opponent.
I'd expect Rigondeaux to be at his best against Frampton. And Rigo at his best is a very, very difficult boxer to face; I'd say there's still a good chance that Frampton just couldn't get near him.

Didn't Donaire knock him down and in his last fight, down twice?

no there aren't, not judging by the second part of yor post anyway.
Seriously, I agree with you Frampton is from Ireland so automatically some people are going to dismiss him to a degree but the boy has got everything, he sees the bigger picture at all times, he sees in slow motion what others fail to see in normal time. He is never, ever out of control in any of his fights. He is immensely talented and will be one of he P4P bests when he beats the "names"

Him being from Ireland works the other way too though remember!

Hardly uncommon for Irish fighters to be overrated, along with British fighters. Partisan support and bias blinds a lot of people.
I rate Carl highly and he has impressed me a lot. Nice bloke too, hope he keeps on going from strength to strength. Not going to go overboard though, he's very good, needs an elite opponent though to make the next step up. So far, he's been betting favourite in every fight.
I think he beats Quigg with a bit to spare.

Frampton was very good, his skillset is impressively varied.
i do wonder if at some point, at the top level, his short arms might hamper him somewhat, especially if he is talking about going up in weight. An athletic type with longer arms- rigondeaux fits that bill- might give him some stylistic problems.
