I think today is the correct day for posters to acknowledge his reffing last night.
Perfect stoppage perfect refereeing throughout.
There has to be a balance.
He took his licks for a certain fight not so long ago and was accused of all sorts of things.
So now he should take appreciation.

I dunno, personally I thought the stoppage came a bit early...

Only joking Perfectly timed stoppage, Foster did absolutely everything right last night.

Great stoppage last night but then again i thought the groves stoppage was fine too.

Credit where credit is due. Refs in any sport have a thankless task at times. The dude in charge of the Eubank fight had a howler!

We shouldn't have to praise refs for correct stoppages. It should be par for the course. It's about the fighters not the refs.

Last night was very reminiscent of the Groves vs Froch fight in terms of ending.

From the moment Avalos fell forward onto the floor the ending was in sight, and the body posture displayed between Groves at the time he was stopped and Avalos at that moment was almost identical. If Howard hadn't of jumped in when he did the way Frampton finished things is quite probably the way Carl would have.

Taken me a while to admit to that as i was really backing GG.

Good observation there, Refs have such a hard job. I thought Foster got it right last night, that lad can go on and fight another day because of the stoppage. But with all the shite that Foster got after Groves vs Froch 1, he could of thought "I'm not going in too soon" last night, but showed his professionalism to jump in and end a fight in similar circumstances.

Yes it was an absolutely perfect stoppage, though I'd say that a little earlier he looked like he was about to jump in too early, but thought better of it and held off brilliantly, probably with the previous criticism in mind..a bit earlier and the Americans would have been yelling home cooking..

It's a split second thing, to get it perfect like that, and he certainly did. Makes me realise what a hard job it is -.well done Howard Foster, excellent ref.

Especially when you see the sadistic refereeing in the Eubank fight.

I didn't think the stoppage in the Eubank fight was as bad as some people are saying. Chudinov had his guard up the whole time, there was only a minute or so left in the fight, and Eubank is clearly not a big puncher. Hopkins was allowed to see out the Kovalev fight under similar circumstances against a much more dangerous puncher.

Of course people should moan about bad reffing. It can endanger the lives of fighters, I just don't think people should be getting a pat on the head and a lollipop every time they don't balls their job up.
I'm not talking about Howard Foster in particular.
They have a tough job but nobody forced them to do it, they know full well the responsibility they have.
Same goes for judges. Will we be cracking open the champers when people turn in a fair card?

If Floyd ko's Manny, are we allowed to praise him? Or is he just doing his job?

As I said previously, it's about the fighter not the officials.
