I don't think there is any comparison on March 7th. NBC wins easily.

True, but HBO will have the best boxing event so far this year one week later on March 14.

The card on NBC this coming Saturday is the best one I can recall this year.

Keith Thurman vs. Robert Gurrero, 12 rounds, for Thurman's WBA "regular" welterweight title; Adrien Broner vs. John Molina, 12 rounds, junior welterweights; Abner Mares vs. Arturo Santos Reyes, 10 rounds, featherweights; Jorge Lara vs. Mario Macias, 8 rounds, featherweights; Terrell Gausha vs. Norberto Gonzalez, 8 rounds, middleweights; Robert Easter vs. TBA, 8 rounds, lightweights; Dominic Breazeale vs. Victor Bisbal, 8 rounds, heavyweights; Mario Barrios vs. Justin Lopez, 6 rounds, featherweights; Thomas Hill vs. Gustavo Lopez, 4 rounds, junior middleweights

There will be better individual match-ups, but this is a GREAT card...and it is on free tv.

Not really a fair comparison. The HBO card isn't even really an HBO card. It's on HBO2 in the afternoon.

Does anyone know if the NBC card is only a 2-fight card or whether they're showing the Mares fight as well?

The NBC card is better than the 3/14 HBO offering as well.

Its 2015 ya'll. I'll watch both. There is no "vs". And hell I might even watch them at the same time if there is overlap just cuz I can. Whatcha ya'll doing getting up to turn the channel & adjusting rabbit ears still or something lmao?

Randomly didn't know Justin Lopez got added to the card. Was a fan of his as an amateur when he took down a couple Michigan gg titles back in the day. Dennis you happen to know why he took such a long layoff (almost 5.5yrs) after his pro debut? Looks like he's just cashing checks at this point & there ain't much of a future for a featherweight who's almost 30 with only 7 fights.

I disagree. I think Kovalev/Pascal is better than anything on the NBC card.

I thought I heard the Danny Jacobs fight got added to the April PBC TV card making that card a three fight show (Danny vs Lamont & Peter vs Andy) so I wouldn't be shocked if this card did the same.

BLH's schedule is showing that it's a 3-fight card with the Mares fight being televised.

Reggie - I don't know why Justin took the long layoff.

Even if you are right (and you may not be), that is one fight.

Doesn't mean the card will be better.

All I'm saying is that if I had to commit to watching one card or the other, it would be the HBO card.

It's not like Broner/Molina or Mares/Reyes are anything special.

You are kidding, right?

For starters, Ghost/Thurman is just as compelling (or more so) than Pascal/Kovalev.

Who here really thinks Sergei is going to have much of a problem at all against a guy who got his ears boxed off twice by the guy Kovalev just boatraced?

And then there is what Dawson almost did to Jean had that fight not been stopped due to home cooking.

I just can't see Kovalev, who is probably now better technically than Dawson and not far behind BHop (and much more powerful than both) having any issues at all with Jean.

On the other hand, the fight between Guerrero and Thurman might be a FOTY candidate. Ditto Molina/Broner if we see something similar to what both men had happen in their last big fights. And Mares is always interesting to watch-but Saturday will be even more so as he is tasked with looking good against a guy who has never been stopped in 22 fights in order to set up a showdown with Santa Cruz.

So, what you got to say about the HBO card?

No, I'm not kidding.

I'm more interested in Kovalev/Pascal than I am in Thurman/Guerrero. I'm also at least as interested in Glazkov/Cunningham as I am in Broner/Molina. That's all there is to it, really.

You're talking about Kovalev/Pascal like it's some extreme mismatch, but the odds on Kovalev are the same as the odds on Thurman, and the odds on Broner are even worse.

I like that the PBC series and many of its boxers will be seen on free TV like NBC and CBS and also on BASIC cable channels like Spike, BET, NBCSN and CBSSN. Some of the big fights will still drift to Showtime and Showtime PPV but if the sport grows on regular TV that isn't so bad.
