Word on the street is Cotto will be signing with RocNation. Heard rumblings of this a couple weeks back. Apparently its legit & info will be coming in the next day or so.

I don't quite get it. Anyone got a logical take on why Cotto would sign with RN when he has his freedom & is one of the biggest draws on the sport.

Yea maybe.

I mean I definitely understand RocNation's reasoning. I just don't understand Miguel's at all. I didn't see a point in Miguel sticking with TR's line of thought (Tim, Brandon or Cornelius) this time out, but I didn't expect a signing to another entity when he is one of the biggest free agents in the sport today & can seemingly already play sides against each other for the best possible outcome for himself.

How many PPVs has Froch sold, and at what price?

Until I hear about Froch, Cotto is clearly the number 3 PPV draw in boxing.

Idek how you compare Carl to Canelo & Miguel with the UK options vs US options tbh so I'll stay outta that one.

With Canelo & Miguel I believe its close though & I'd give the edge to Canelo right now. I mean both guys fought Floyd so comparing those numbers (2.2M vs 1.5M), Canelo seems to have more impact on buys as the B side. When they are the A side its even closer (300k Canelo vs Erislandy, 350k Canelo vs Alfredo & 315k Miguel vs Sergio), but I'd still give Canelo the edge.

The more I'm thinking about this the more I think this could be a post-boxing move for Miguel. Sure I bet the money is nice, but still why sign a deal. It can't be THAT nice unless RocNation has no clue what they are doing & they've had some success with other sports so I'd assume they aren't going into this blind.

I'm thinking this deal could include Miguel Cotto Promotions linking up with RocNation & Miguel getting some $$$ & a nice title in RocNation Sports now or in the future. One of RocNation's problems is a lack of a roster, which is why they got with Gary Shaw I believe, so having a deal with the King of NY with his roster of guys who could end up being the next King of NY is probably a good bet to make. And I don't think Arum has helped much with MC Promotions so it wouldn't take much promising by RN to get Miguel on board imho.

The expectation was around what you are saying.

Said DiBella, Martinez's promoter, "It's well off the projections. It underperformed. HBO expected 460,000 to 500,000 and it did well under that."

I think the fight with Floyd best shows that Canelo is the bigger PPV guy right now today. He helped get 700k more people watching than Miguel could help get. That says to me he'd get more buys vs the same guy in other fights probably too. Making him the higher ranked guy. I definitely don't think you can say "he's definitely a bigger PPV star" its definitely a highly disputable thing at very least if we are looking at the numbers.

Miguel making more comments about this in regards to Top Rank/Todd.

I don't think it does. One of GBP's former higher up suits that left under good terms is now working for Roc Nation so they probably got a line of communication right there. I think there is further connections between GBP & RN too, but I'm not recalling them at the moment. Plus I can't believe RN would pay Miguel $50M for 3 fights & not make a grand effort making Saul vs Miguel a reality.
