All the bravado seems lost now that the fight is signed and reality is setting in. You will never hear a trainer sound less confident than this. Jesus.

yo did....its a tough fight for both. roach is just honest. how many trainers act like the opponent infront of them is nothing special and than the fighter they have lose every damn round. roach is realistic and concentrated. its a tough one.

Trainers are typically confident - even when they don't actually believe it. I have never given Pac much of a shot in this fight and this just reaffirms that thought. It will take a bigger man than Pac to
beat Floyd. The fact that the betting odds have come down quite a bit just makes me laugh. Those damn Asians love to gamble - irresponsibly usually.

yeah....because you judge on certain reasons....even if youre not a pac fan, how can you see him very short in this one.

It's important Mayweather's technical ability is respected as it should be. Roach is right, what Floyd does naturally, even other world champions have to think about first. Boxing to him is as natural as walking down the street.

Roach followed it up by saying it's his biggest challenge but will be the greatest moment of his career when they win. I much prefer my trashtalk to have some class to it. Tyson Fury called Cristian Hammer a bum about 4 times at the weigh-in last week. Seems counter-productive, everyone agrees you only fight bums, Fury.

Paquiao is soon to be cherry pick #48.

there were interviews where he sounded even worse.
i like this brutal honesty approach of his though. i
think he is spot on that manny needs a perfect night.

when he mentioned the complex strategy i thought:
no way. but on the other hand, manny's skills at this
stage won't be enough.

portraying pac as the underdog might be psychologically
a good thing. i for one am surprised that so many pundits
still see it for manny.

the only thing i wish for is that neither man gets
embarrassed.

I'd bet Freddie is now saying things to ensure manny is fully focused on the task at hand and doesn't for 1 minute take his eye off the ball.

But I agree with the above, in 5 weeks he'll be predicting a KO for manny.

Don't read into this that Freddie doesn't fancy manny chances, Freddie will be very confident.

This +1 and get ready for a buttload of excuses by the Packy-faithful. Anyone notice that Rob Arum isn't talking much ish since this fight has been signed but I suspect that it's because he already knows the outcome and how Floyd will dominate Manny.

Floyd is too big, strong and athletic + he doesn't mind stinking the place out if needs be.

Maybe he is just covering his a$$, so if Manny loses to such a great opponent, it is not Roach's fault -- just Manny couldn't achieve perfection he taught him.

lmfao. But absolutely correct as I've been seeing this go down for years now. Right now there is a bunch of money being bet on Manny. The line has gone moved more towards Manny since it opened. Now with this info already known you can bet your life savings that come May 3 after a Floyd win you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who isn't saying Floyd cherry picked Manny. Its a win win for those type of fans. The day Floyd loses it'll prove Floyd has been a myth & hypejob for 47-53 fights or however long he goes & if Floyd wins he cherry picked his opponent. This is the trail Floyd is on til he loses or retires whatever comes first.

The article link..Roach sounds reasonable.

I read a article the other day where Roach said Mayweather was predictable. So whatever.

Roach is throwing out an awful lot for it to be so early in training camp.

Might be the clearest indicator of how he really feels deep down if he is trying to play head games so soon.

What raised an eyebrow recently was his feeble attempt to sow discord among Roger and Sr. by saying he, Roach, is comforted by the fact that it will be Sr. in the corner instead of Roger.

What is hilarious about that is the thought Roger would not be close by on fight night to offer insight if he sees something, this no matter which elder Mayweather is in the corner.

The idiocy is further compounded by the fact that it appears to be Roger doing most of the training in the gym right now.

I agree with the OP, this is pretty weird, even for Freddie.

I wonder how much Roach is betting on Pac to win?

I was working out in a gym years ago just hitting the bags and doing light sparring and it was the same gym where Lou Duva was training Andrew Golota for his title fight with Lennox Lewis.

Two things that were interesting 1) the Heavy Bag Golota used had masking tape around the diameter to train Golota NOT to hit low and get DQd again like he did twice against Bowe and 2) When I shock hands with Lou Duva and said, "Good luck against Lewis," Duva replied, "Yeah, we'll need it."

I should have bet on Lewis. :oo

After seeing Manny punch dancing in the streets yesterday, Floyd better be ready. Roach thinks Manny needs to fight a perfect fight, I disagree. If a middle of the road boxer like Maidana can come that close to beating Floyd then what do you think a guy with the skills like Manny will do?

I'm all for respectful prefight hype but i also like a little Larry Holmes jumping off a car on his opponent or Mike Tyson promising to eat children. This fight needs just one of these type moments to completely burn this bitch to the ground with anticipation.

all i know is, is that manny is getting sharper and closer to being ready.

even now, over 5 weeks before the fight, even now he looks fast, and more importantly than handspeed, he looks fast on footspeed. if slow footed maidana can come close to floyd and exchange punches and land some, than what will a game manny do to floyd. i am being realistic, floyd has also his chances, floyd is floyd, but I'll doubt that it is going to be that easy for him like so many believes.

because, everything floyd had problems in the past "castillo's aggressivness/ judah hand- and footspeed/ maidana's power" is all combined in one fighter and that is manny. if an a-trained manny shows up, than i dont care who stands in the ring with him, than you got a problem, because great speed and power and quick feet is a problem for anybody.

Well, I guess that is why Floyd has been ducking Manny all these years. :OhYes:

I sincerely hope Manny can fight a whole lot better than he can play basketball or sing, or it won't be worth watching.
