What kind of figures do we get when we have big fights over here?

I was just reading a thread on the CS and a lot of guy didn't expect Thurman vs Guerrero to do much more than 1.5m views on a network channel
Those look like extremely low figures considering the size of america. That's a big title fight involving 2 US based fighters. I reckoned we would pull in a lot more than that for big events over here.

someone then came on and said we got 2m for frampton on ITV, which I think sounds reasonable

What kind of viewing figures do we get for Khan/Froch/Brook/Frampton fights etc?
And how big is the difference between free to view channels like ITV & C5 and the likes of Sky/allegedly

I wouldn't call them monster audiences and they've been dropping off in recent fights.

For what it's worth the Ioka Vs Carrillo/Amagasa Vs Rigondeaux double header got more than 10,000,000 in Japan.

I would like to see Khan-McCloskey PPV viewing figures.

If I remember rightly it did really well, mainly though because it of the hype it received in the last week - and its switch to primetime.

'really well' seems like a bit of an exaggeration to me Stu.

Golovkin vs Rubio ? 1.3m

Bryan Vera on his own? about 250

Like I said, I don't get it either - but he draws big numbers against mediocre opponents. I think with the right mix of opponent and date, he will do massive numbers.

I can't read the full article on my phone, but isn't that the girl from The Valleys TV show? If so, I can pretty much guarantee that the story is BS, she lives not far from me & is well known as an attention seeking media whore. Wouldn't believe anything she claims for a second.

It is, but it's also the sort of thing I can believe Khan doing.

At least when a premier league footballer runs into her he will know the likely baseline to buy her willingness

Just checked, apparently over 50,000K. Primetime described it as the biggest viewer figures in their history at the time and Kessler vs Froch attacted 50,000K.

It was a funny event was it, remember the hearns being there with their Sky box office t-shirts on, but now would their faces be on any network other than sky.

It's obvious, isn't it? His surname and the fact he's Hispanic. I doubt there would have been 10,000 at Saunders-Eubank Jr if it was Blackwell instead of Jr. I still don't think they're massive audiences. Maybe, when compared to other American fighters, but not when thinking about how big America is.

I'm not sure if Skys viewing figure have picked up in recent years, but when you compare them to the viewers Fury got on 5 and Khan and now Frampton get on ITV, it's a wonder Sky can compete and that terrestrial channels do not have a lot more invested in British boxing

Latest couple from Sky are that Mitchell-Estrada didn't register in the top 10 for that week, so was sub 156k and the Prizefighter topped by Rose-Jones did 68,000. I've got a bit of time on my hands so I'll have a look for some more, allegedly don't report to BARB so there won't be any of theirs. Golovkin-Murray did 740,000 on Channel 5.
