Thoughts?

A mixed bag for me, all in all a great night though, 8/10

Two delayed stoppages, really makes me wonder what they train these refs to do when a full house is clearly concerned for the fighter in question. They weren't encouraging the fighter to finish the job they were saying enough was enough.

Some of the novices - Hill and Darling especially - were well matched, Hill looked very composed in there. Prince Patel overwhelmed an overmatched opponent, the worst matchmaking of the night, matched only by the unprofessionalism of his reaction. I know these things can't be predicted but if you can get Moses Matuvu in to fight Darling you can get a proper test in for all your fighters.

Add to that the post-fight interview, which was, even allowing for the fact that he's 22, vile. I tell you now, I'll not buy a ticket for a show he's on.

Fair play to Goodwin for sticking that giant cruiser (davidas?) in with sharif. He earned that win, i think he'd become a bit of an away-corner favourite.

Mckenzie had a procession on the way to his (masters) 'belt' against a bloke who wins in his hometown then travels and loses. Amazing that. Mckenzie either didnt want to stop him or couldnt and im veering toward couldnt.

Markham fought well and Imo won the fight by a good distance, the rounds were competitive and close but the other man got it.

Ekundayo looked very tidy, lovely jabs to body and head.

Plus leaping about like he'd done something. He should keep in mind that his first few pro opponents will not be as good as the best amateurs he fought, and that the paying public aren't blind.

Thankless job refereeing; damned if they do damned if they don't!! Maybe if the armchair referees stop crying about their perception of early stoppages and calling refs corrupt if they do stop contests then who knows? Truth is the referees are closer than anyone and call it as they see it; it could look differently outside the ropes? Which contests do you consider delayed stoppages? Any footage?
That is the second time the Giant KO'd Sharif; the first time it was round 2 and Sharif demanded a rematch saying if he can't beat the likes of the Giant he should not be in the game. I think he has answered his own question.

Glad you had an 8/10 evening though Fair does to Goodwin and Campion they do a lot of these small hall shows; keep up the good work; we need more promoters like these.

Ive always been an advocate of an early stoppage over a late one. Like you say, they're on the spot but its not their job to risk anyones health. Evans and Weisse last night it was, dont know if its on youtube at all

I was at the show when sharif fought him before, another good night.

I might be in a minority but I thought Smyle's win was deserved. Markham pressured but didn't let his hands go enough, particularly early on. I thought the fight hinged on the last round, which Smyle won. Good, close competitive fight which I would like to see again. Ekundayo boxed really well too, looks a bit awkward at times when coming forward but made easy work of Evans. Garton was entertaining, McKenzie less so. Overall a fun evening in a sweltering York Hall.

What a bell end! Hope he wises up and realises he's just made an idiot of himself sooner rather then later

Prince Patel, my word. I didn't see the fight, but the guy could not be more arrogant. As much as this will help him build his profile, calling someone out and acting like a world champion after one fight is not the way I would go about it.

You could hear how annoyed Kugan Cassius was getting. But fair play to Prince Patel, he, like Romeo Romeao is someone that I will look out for in results and on TV.

What were the thoughts on Garton's opponent? Pleased to see he won, and another stoppage, but I know nothing about his opponent (other than looking at boxrec) so not sure what/if anything should be read into the win?

Is Garton ready for an English title shot?

I really enjoyed this show! I may be biased but Goodwin's shows get better and better. Another cracker coming this Saturday.

Garton looked good on Saturday. IMHO much better than his last outing against Battle. English title? I would like to see him in a bit deeper water. He definitely out boxed Weise and overwhelmed him in the 5th for a solid win. In the Battle fight though, Battle was cut by what looked to me like an accidental clash of heads and that is what ended it. Would have been great to see that one go int the final 2 rounds... Battle was strong and I had him 5 rounds up at that point but Garton was getting warmed up and looked much better in the later rounds so the last 2 could have been interesting!

Patel; really hope he suffers a sickening KO loss to a some obscure Latvian with a losing record (and no previous stoppage wins) and is NEVER seen in a ring again.
