I was aware of it earlier today, and felt ill.

UPDATE: Toowoomba boxer Braydon Smith has died in a Brisbane hospital.
Family spokesman James O'Shea this afternoon confirmed the tragic news.

Terribly sad and upsetting. My sincere condolences to family & friends

Some just don't get what a tough business boxing really is and how much courage it takes to step through those ropes, and every now and then it all ends in tragedy.

IMO, thoughts should also be extended to opponent. He might never fully recover & could possibly walk away from the game.

Knowing what happened it's very unsettling to see pictures of him looking fine immediately after the fight.

His opponent is only a kid as well, a huge tragedy and my thoughts go to all involved.

Yes, he appeared fine, albeit worse for wear he congratulated opponent, thanked sponsors & fans. His condition changed dramatically in change room & was promptly taken to local hospital, which immediately had him airlifted to Brisbane's PAH for extremely urgent surgery. The rest is now history

This is awful news; my thoughts are with his family and young fiancé. I also prey his opponent recovers from this; it has to be one of the hardest things in the world to deal with. RIP "THE GREAT WHITE".
