After seeing Pascal have some countering success I am going to agree with that.

With a fair ref Kovalev wins by KO for certain.

Even if Ward has a shady home ref like Jack Reiss who permits him to foul (as in the Kessler fight), I think Kovalev still puts him to sleep.

Fair ref my ass.....Ward doesn't cheat. If Ward cheats then Wlad should be banned for life. Fuckin crybabies.

Kovalev by stoppage. No doubt in my mind. Ward is not going to avoid bombs all night long. Noone can do that vs Kovalev. You need to have a dig and an iron jaw to have a chance with Krusher. Ward has neither. Andre obviously has skills but the pace is going to be dictated by Sergey. Ward doesn't throw enough and can't keep Kovalev off with the limited power he has.

No amount of headbutting and clinching will save Ward here. Kovalev TKO 8 in a one-sided affair in which Sergey is constantly pushing Andre back with his power, with Ward increasingly reluctant to throw.

I agree with most of it, except a "skillful" headbutt could save Ward, as Kovalev is prone to cuts.

He had some success, but ultimately got beat up. Plus Pascal has more dig than Ward and still couldn't really put a dent in Sergey. If Ward opens up to the extent he needs to in order to land enough to outpoint Kovalev, bearing in mind Sergey is a volume machine as well as a murderous hitter, Ward will get demolished like all the others. It's no-win if you're a Kovalev opponent. Literally. If you face Kovalev, you won't win.

Just think ward would be to slick, however i don't think it'll be a pretty fight, as I could see a vlad sort tactics adopted by ward to nullify Kovalev power. ...

Wth does Boxrec have against F i g h t H y p e ffs? Always throwing their links up as spam.

First off this is a collusion course that won't be happening til a year from now at the earliest imho. So a Spring of 2016 collusion course lol.

Second I think there is an extremely good chance if Sergey fights the best available options 3-4 times before next Spring he'll have been knocked off (I'm predicting Artur fwiw) thus him with a 1 where the 0 used to be makes this a far less exciting "super fight" in the minds of fickle fans.

Third who even knows if Andre will be going up in weight in a year or soon or later or at all.

Fourth if somehow it does happen around the 2nd quarter of 2016 I think Andre schools him.

Personally I don't see a collusion course as the article states they could be on.

Ward didn't even hurt chinny Miranda or Green and he hit them loads of times. He may be physically strong, at least at 168, but he doesn't have much power or 'dig'.

Right, and Hopkins was supposed to school Kovalev. The same way as Pascal's facial expression changed after a few jabs to the body, the same will happen with Ward. He will be running, stinging and grabbing, but he will not be able to keep Kova off him for 12 rounds. I think Andre realizes that he is lacking power for LHW the same way as Bernard. I see Ward fighting Kovalev only if somebody else beats Sergey first.

It's nice that people are always starting threads for Ward vs somebody.

Almost makes one think Ward is actually an active fighter.

Right, Andre's chin is way worse than Bernard's. He won't survive 12 rounds.

I started this thread on this board for a reason - to see how ridiculously skewed this euro-based board would be against the american ace who has derailed so many other domestic fighters.

How's Kovalev a Euro domestic fighter? He's US based, though he's happy to beat up the other guys in their hometown

His PR team is obviously making these posts. Trying to keep him relevant lol.

I agree, why are we still talking about Andre Ward? Yes, he was a talented undefeated fighter but he's irrelevant. He's going to spend the next year or two with marginal, at best, opposition in tune up fights. He's got two bookends waiting in the winds above and below his weight class that he'll avoid like the plague. No way he fights GGG or Kovalev any time soon. Ward won a Middleweight Tournament filled with mediocre talent. Other than that, what's he done? He's never fought a PPV event and never will at this rate of inactivity and poor fight scheduling. Good riddance, Ward.

Andre Ward has repeatedly stated recently that he has no intention to move up to the 175lb weight division just yet. These are sentiments that he and his trainer (Virgil Hunter) has repeatedly claimed well before Sergey Kovalev’s arrival on the world scene.

Kovalev’s trainer, John David Jackson, wouldn’t entertain the idea of a catch-weight for his man to face Andre Ward.

The article you supplied even says the very same thing! “I know Ward says he wants to stay at 168…”

Therefore, 168lb SOG + 175lb Krusher = No Fight!
lol Ward talked about moving up to light heavyweight from 2011 up until Kovalev and Stevenson arrived on the scene. Ward was on the HBO broadcast when Adonis knocked Dawson out and went silent for about 2 minutes afterwards. When Stevenson who had just moved up to 175 said he would fight Ward at 168 more silence. Ward is the P4P Champion of retirement and winning fantasy fights.

It would be a great fight. I have a hard time picking against Kovalev right now, especially when Ward has been so inactive. Kovalev is a big guy for his weight class, Ward is about average for his. I don't think power would win Kovalev the fight, I think it would be a combination of things. Ward is a very good fighter, I actually believe he's a great fighter but so is Kovalev. I would love to see a fight like this, but I want to see Ward dominated top level opposition like he was prior to taking his long hiatus before I want to see Ward take a fight against Kovalev. I think Ward would have a fair chance to win because he is a special fighter, but right now I'd favor Kovalev due to being active and being the naturally bigger guy.

You continuously complain about this "euro-based bored" so why don't find an American based one that isn't "ridiculously skewed"?
