An interesting match up at Light-Welterweight that never took place. Who would you have had and why?

Kostya is one of my favorite all time fighters, but unless he catches DLH perfectly I don't see how he wins a decision. And nobody ever put DLH down with a head shot. And Tzyu was more of a head hunter. So I reluctantly go with Oscar.

Zoo folded both times he was in a fight, KOd clean by Vince Phillips and overpowered by Ricky Hatton. I think Oscar would pummel him.

If your big win is Zab Judah then frankly you're not presenting a great body of work.

Incidentally Buzz, Ike Quartey (among others) put DLH down with a headshot, although admittedly Quartey was a much better puncher than Zoo.

:TU:
Quartey did put Oscar down. Oscar had a hell of a chin though and I don't think anyone who went toe to toe with prime Mosley will get took out by one shot by Zoo.

Yeah...DLH was off balance with some head shots, but was he ever in trouble? I differentiate flash KD's and KD's that do little apparent damage from a KO blow or Queer street shots.

Very true. No one has ever really hurt Oscar with a headshot:
Quartey
Vargas
Trinidad
Mayorga
Hopkins

Hmm not sure if you are agreeing with me....or pointing out that you disagree and believe all those fighters had him on queer street and in trouble.

Could you clarify?

Oscar had a great chin, but to say he was never knocked down by a headshot - when he was knocked down several times by head shots - because they don't meet your own ad hoc criteria for a knockdown is, to say the least, silly.

Well silly aint so bad.

Because someone is sent to the canvas from a shot above the torso always counts as a knockdown.

This I understand....just in case it was hard to detect.

I was attempting to make the point, that I had not seen him hurt at those times, and though flash knockdowns, and balance moments garner points via the rules of the game. I had not seen him "hurt". Or do you confuse being on the canvas as a synonym for hurt, or on queer street, or diminished capacity, or compromised reflexes.

If all knockdowns represent that a man is hurt....then count me silly.

Sorry if my point got lost in my verbage. whe I said "down" my meaning wasn't KD but KO or "near KO"

And I may have missed the discombobulating moment. So if it exists I'll go take a look at the tapes. It was a bit of a question and statement based on my old overtaxed memory. Worst I saw him was when Hopkins took his liver out. And even then, he seemed quite alert, and fully aware of his painful and arresting condition. (Cursing it as I recall.) I've not seen the fella groggy.

Agreeing that he had a hard chin. The Quartey knockdown was just a blimp and Quartey is underrated as a puncher and a fighter in hindsight today.

Ditto, I never saw the man groggy at any time.

IT'S VERY DEBATABLE IF ANY-ONE HIT MUCH HARDER THAN KT IF THEY DID HIT HARDER IT WOULD'NT BE BY MUCH

I don't think KT's power was anything special. No doubt he was a good puncher but in my opinion it was of the wear you down variety rather than the blast you out type.

I like Oscar by decision here. I think he was superior all-round and could cope with KT's best.

Maybe at 140 but I'm not sure KT hits as hard as bigger guys Oscar fought like Tito, Vargas and Hopkins.

Ike Quartey blasted Vince Phillips in 3. Vince Phillips then shrugged off Tszyu's best shots and blasted him in 10.

You sound an intelligent type.

Oscar was a tough competitor and a really good boxer and strong puncher, he'd have won on points over Kostya in a really good fight.

Mosley v Kostya would have been another great bout.

Styles make fight's and this would have been a classic ODLH gets rocked on more than one occasion by KT but shows a great chin to survive :TU:
