According to boxingtalk McBride is out vs Tyson, the replacement is Danny Williams.

Chris, I second that - Thanks for the news Freiheit. If true (and its a massive if) this fight could be very compelling. Tyson hasn't fought in a year, Danny is a big lad who can punch.

Not my chosen path for Danny, but a path he has to take.

danny williams i'd definitely pay for that chance of a lifetime for him that.

yeah, as an American I have seen Williams last two fights vs Sprott and would look very much forward to a match vs Tyson. I can see Williams getting decked a couple of times and coming back to win. lol

Boxingtalk have been on the nail with the last two Warren stories (Calzaghe pulling out and then Glen Johnson looking to Roy Jones). Bombs away. Danny would have a puncher's chance with a rusty Tyson.

Shelly Finkel informed Fightnews.com today that there has been a possible change in opponents for Mike Tyson's July 30th ring return in Louisville. Originally, Kevin McBride (a 6'6 Irish journeyman) was the intended challenger, but it looks like he has now been replaced with "a better opponent" in Danny Williams. Williams is a 30-year-old native of Britain with a record of 31-3 and 26 KOs.

Yep, just saw it there, too, so it's becvome much more credible, especially since they say they got it directly from Shelly Finkel.

Williams is far from being a world-beater, but would be a damn sight more interesting as an opponent for Tyson than McBride of Frankenstein. ;)

Great news if it comes off, but it'll be a minor miracle if both these two make it to the ring, without pulling out at the last minute.

Danny is a million miles better opponent than McBride, that's for sure.

And what about Danny's notorious pre fight nerves? What the hell are they gonna be like before getting in the ring with Iron Mike?! He'll be in pieces.

Still, if he can hold it together, who knows? Mike is a three round fighter these days. Williams has a punchers chance for sure.
He can box ok when he wants to, and has a big heart too.
Worth a bet if it ever comes of.

i dont think team Williams want to say anything. I phoned William's house, and he was 'out'. Also the female (who i assume to be Williams' partner?) said she knew 'nothing' about it.

Wow, very interesting. If it does come off then it looks like i WILL be purchasing Tysons next PPV after all. Danny would have to get in much better shape as this would be the chance of a life time. He would put his face on the map regardless of the result, not to mention the pay day he'd get for this fight.

But then again, seems too good to be true, and as Mighty points out it'll be a minor miracle if they make it to the ring. (Cue 'back injurys' at the last minute).

Williams has a chance. He has very big power, Tyson is rusty and a shell of himself. I really hope that this is Williams' night as he is a good fighter with good tools, what lets him down is his mental state of mind. You can see he has very little confidence in himself and he really doesn't do himself any justice. Williams is a potential world class heavyweight but will never be untill he gains that much needed confidence.

Although I think Williams can beat today's Tyson, I will still say Tyson wins in a 2 or 3 round job, and I worry that Tyson will be able to really intimidate Williams.

i would of done if it wasn't so late. Not going to have a great amount of time in the morning, but i'll try and let everyone know what's going on if i do find out anything.

Tyson would smash Williams inside 90 seconds, Danny is way too mentally fragile to deal with Tyson. I honestly think McBride would put up a better fight.

sunil sam blasted danny out and tyson, even a shot one, is still a fearsome fighter at this level of competition.
the fight will be lost before they enter the ring.
i`d love danny to surprise me but i think he has two chances ......slim and none, and slim is packing his suitcase.

I think you may have meant to say "...put his face on the mat."

Tyson would destroy Williams. Is this even true, im very sceptical about this news.
