Marcos Maidana could get another big fight in no time & he has a lot respect in the boxing game and could be champion again sum day.I would like to see the Argentina killer face Juan Marquez,Timothy Bradley,Brandon Rios,Sadam Ali,are Amir Khan next!A win over any of these guys would be exactly what Maidana would need!

Thurman would be by first pick for Maidana.... I think Maidana brings more aggression and determination to the table than Guerrero did and would be a fun match up. Would also tell us more about Thurman and be a great chance for him to make a statement.

Totally agree, i think Thurman vs Maidana is the fight to be made. Like you said Marcos will be in there for the win and will give Keith all he can get. Good opportunity for him to prove where he is compare to the elite guys.

You just named a sh!tload of guys he mostly will probably never fight due to promoter politics. Juan, Tim & Brandon are all with TR/HBO. Marcos is with Al Haymon. HBO won't work with Al Haymon & I don't believe Bob & Al are all that cozy with each other. Those fights have virtually no chance of happening imo. Sadam is with GBP so there is some chance of that if Al & Oscar can set aside their beef over all the sketchy ass Richard bs. Amir is about the only guy who could actually fight np.

Marcos has been calling out Danny Garcia lately & obviously the Keith Thurman fight has been one thats been talked about before. I think those two fights are the most likely fights we'll be seeing Marcos in next time out or after one tuneup fight as fighters are apt to do.

Having said all that Marcos ins't fighting for another 6-9 months from reports I've seen. He's getting married next month (btw awesome idea Marcos you f#cking knucklehead, make millions in 2014 & immediately get married in 2015, I foresee you owning half as much sh!t in less then 5 years unless Argentina isn't as nutty as the US with wives getting your sh!t or you got a prenup) & just doesn't plan to fight til the last quarter of the year or perhaps til 2016.

I guess that's why Alexander had such an easy time against him....he couldn't hurt him.

Being allowed to clinch every 15 seconds did Alexander no harm either. That was closer to gay porn than a fight.

I didn't say none will never happen. Just unlikely. And remember they are likely just coming together cuz Manny vs Floyd is the biggest fight ever. Idk that Marcos vs Brandon or other fights can reach that sorta level.

I also think the coming "war" (if it hasn't already begun with HBO banning Al) in boxing is gonna be HBO vs PBC so fights between those two entities will be few & far between & probably concentrated on purse bid level fights thus the biggest fights between abc belt holders won't often be among those fights.

Imo, Maidana needs to be motivated to perform well. He was ready to quit boxing before the Alexander fight at 140, and showed it. Maybe the weight cut was a factor too, not sure. When he is motivated, he is one of the best at 147. Right now the only guy he mentions is D. Garcia.

I don't see him coming back until fall, and only if he gets the fight he wants. Unlike a lot of boxers, I don't think money is a great motivation for him.

I don't think Maidana has too many fights left in him. Physically he's capable, but I don't think he's driven mentally anymore. After the first Mayweather fight, he talked of retirement if he didn't land a rematch. About a month ago this picture came out:

Hardly looks like he's been hitting the gym. I hope he proves me wrong but I think his best days are behind him.

He's obviously channeling the spirit of Roberto Duran.

It is a shame that fights don't happen because of relationships outside the ring.. makes you think that boxing is fought by adults but organised by children...

he's been my favourite fighter for a good few years now, but i just can't see him maintaining the same standard we have become accustomed to.

He fought the best twice and came up short twice, got huge pay days which he thoroughly deserved and i hope he uses his money wisely.

I think we'll see him at least once more, and it will probably still be entertaining but he will take more and more punishment.
