Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone know the actual rules about how often a boxer can fight? More than once a week? Less?

Also I know that if he gets stopped or KO'd then he cant box for a certain amount of time, but I cant remember how long that is?

If anyone gets stopped they can not fight for 28 days

Once in a 7 day period.

I have a feeling the only rule is the 28 day rule if you get stopped, I cant see anything in the BBBoC rules and regulations regarding it. But I assume you can only fight once a week due to the weigh in, re-hydrating etc rules

You have to have 6 clear days so you can fight the same day the next week.
If you get stopped or go the distance but get a cut the doctor doesnt like you get 28 days
You can also get 28 days if you have a tough fight and the doctor rules you have to rest
If you get badley kod or again down to the docs discretion you can get 45 days

A normal stoppage is a 28 day ban. A bad knockout or really severe cut is a 45. You can only box with 7 clear days in between. If you could've boxed more often im sure I would've had a lot more fight.

Also if you win in the first or second round you can apply to fight inside the 6 clear day rule
but im afraid any away lads who win in the first or second round probably are not going to fight for the next month let alone the next week

lol yeh which ever day you box on you can box on that day the next week thats why a lot of road lads hate sunday shows messes up the next job

So how does Prizefighter work with up to 3 fights in one night?

Can any promoter put on such an event?

Prizefighter has got its own rules kind of a one off,Prizefighter is the only place an accidental head clash can get you a cut eye loss. I dont think theres any rules on who can do it tbf

What do you mean "has its own rules" - surely the BBBofC rules are the BBBofC rules ?

The Prizefighter concept is hardly a "one-off" - there has been loads of them.

Also, 3 round fights is that another "one-off" rule change for Prizefighter ?

What if another promoter wanted to put on a show that was not within the current rules - would the BBBofC suddenly change their rules ?

Have the BBBofC changed the rules for everybody or just certain promoters ?

Some journeymen in the UK must be making some very decent coin; especially the ones who have mastered the art of not getting stopped.

Exactly what i said there are a set of rules that were discussed sat down and altered to suit it.

Yes it is a one off type of competition there has been lots of it but if you can point out any other formats that are the same so its not a one off please do.

Rather than becoming confrontational with people who have got info you havnt just read and discuss.

If you got the rule book each year youd know that rules are changed every year and amended

Na unfortunately mate in a lot of cases if a journeyman starts winning he'll stop getting calls for fights. I'm pretty sure I've heard journeymen say as much. Massive shame.

That's why I always love it when a journeyman turns his career around and becomes a champion. Steve Robinson's story is brilliant; from a 13-9-1 record fighter to WBO Champion with 7 defences against some class fighters to boot and even after the loss to Hamed won the European title.

Who were those class fighters mate? Not being funny at all, i remember hoko, and, and.....
