Weekend Fights

Lots of competitive scraps.
Briggs vs a 50 yr old.
Nietes vs a bum.
Donaire vs a bum.
Gavin vs a bum.
In all seriousness, there are a couple decent fights. Brook vs Dan probably isnt one, Brook can coast and win.
Charlo vs Vanes should be interesting but I definitely lean Charlo.
And GRJ vvs Jhonny Gonzalez. Leaning Russell there on pts if he can keep from being KO'd.

3-1 Vanes but close rounds.

I have Vanes ahead through 6.

I thought Vanes wanted out following the head clash but the fight goes on.

Vanes has faded a bit over the last few rounds. Farhood has Charlo ahead by a few rounds but I think it's arguably closer.

Vanes clearly takes the 10th for me.
Very competitive fight.

97-93
96-94
96-94
Charlo UD....kind of what I expected. Farhood had it 95-95 and I think that's a fair score.

Charllo was winning clearly in my opinion. Vanes needed to take it to the tranches and physically destroy him. But he is too reluctant to be hit, was jumping around too much. What is he waiting for especially that he had only 10 rounds to do it. Hence the loss. Now he is saying until day before he thought it was a 12 rounder. What a joke.

I don't think Charlo won clearly. He clearly had the edge in the middle rounds but he spent a lot of time doing little, even compared to Vanes. There weren't many clean punches between them and many of the rounds could've gone either way in my view.

I thought he won all early rounds as well. He was step ahead most of the time and each time Vanes had successes he would just jump back and would not capitalize on it. Way the boxing is scored whether I like it or not there was no way Vanes would win that.

I didn't think he was winning the early rounds beyond doubt either. I believe that a draw would've been fair and to me Farhood's card was better than the 7-3 card.
Russell-Gonzalez

Russel is about to get slaughtered sharpish.

It wouldn't surprise me, but Jhonny is quite inconsistent. Looking forward to this....

Unlike Vanes Jhonny doesnt need to get inside and press forward too much. He should stay outside and pound a shorty from the distance.

Dominant first for Russell. Gonz looking very sluggish.

Closer second but still a GR round in my opinion.

Russel wins first through speed and activity. In second Jhonny is getting closer.

Russell wins by stoppage in the 4th! JG didn't get his legs back after the KD.

Does it make Loma the man ?

Wow, I knew Jhonny was chinny but not that chinny. Russel was landing those right hooks on Lomachenko the whole night with no effect.

I suspect that many people will now argue that Russell would beat Loma in a rematch, even though he didn't fight much differently here.
Jhonny looked very sluggish and chinny.

An impressive performance from junior. Still I dont see him beating Loma or Walters. He has a chance though against Gradovich and Santa chicken Cruz.

I'd like to see Russell-Mares next.

Mares is shot and whats more he is reserved for Santa Cruz.
