Errol has never even smoked a cigarette, which makes this such a cruel diagnosis.

I was trained by Errol for a short period. He was always upbeat and smiling. I really hope he beats it.

Very sad to hear Errol's news. Good of Buncey to interview him last week and mention the amazing amatuer title winning spree that Christie achieved.

Errol looked well and was remarkebly positive, especially as he'd been assaulted recently.

Very best wishes to Errol and hopes he makes a fully recovery ASAP. The book sounds very interesting.

That's terrible news - my favorite Brit fighter of the 80's - best wishes to the Errol, really decent person too.

You know I often wondered about the effects of smoke inhalation when we were boxing as kids. Some of those small halls you could hardly breath in, like many of us boxing at that time Errol would have fought in hundreds of small smoky venues. It was terrible if you went on last or later in the evening. Don't know if this is a possible cause or a contributing factor.

Good bloke, great fighter, big heart. Wish him well.

Roy Castle always put his disease down to inhalation of passive smoke in halls and clubs.

Yup, and you know when we were kids in the 60s and 70s it was everywhere People smoked in cinemas, restaurants, cars, trains, buses, at work-I lived in a family of 4 smokers and had to share a bedroom with two brothers who smoked like chimneys. My coach at the gym thought nothing of having fag while we where training, and even on boxing trips most of the coaches would sit on the bus smoking away. And then when you boxed you didn't just inhale, it was really taking it into your lungs. I was in the forces and it was terrible, sometimes I would sleep outside it was so smoky in the accommodation.

I am sure many of us will suffer the effects of this. I don't know if this is something that may have contributed to Errols illness but it is there.
