Cotto is to defend his WBC title on June 6th. The question is against who? Every other name seems to have been already mentioned. I guess it is Geale's turn now?

I don't see this happening especially in America after Geales poor performance against Golovkin where some boxing fans thought he just quit and didn't want to fight on. I wasn't sure about that myself.

Imo Cotto would bust Geale up to the body and probably stop him.

Geale is now the frontrunner according to the article. Great opportunity if he lands it and the chance for a 3rd title win.

Geale wins this if he keeps a distance and boxes smartly. Great opportunity for DG to get his rematch with ggg.

There are 6 blokes ahead of DG in the WBC rankings to fight Cotto. So why is Cotto going for Geale? I think he and his camp are feeling their way in the middlewieght division.Cotto was sharp against Martinez although lets be honest,Martinez was far from his best. I reckon they know that they are not ready for GGG and that Geale is a good, safe "feeler" for them.
In saying that good luck to DG,this may be just what he needs to get his boxing back on track. I have read a lot of comments, boxing will always have it's ways with the big money and heads to match the fans don't always get the match ups that should be.

We all know rankings are crap. Geale did well getting himself ranked in the wbc at all, ass well as the other governing bodies. As I have said so many times styles make fights. Geale is busy enough and fast enough to give cotto fits and if Miguelito team is looking past Daniel it will be to their detriment.

C'mon matey you are having a laugh with that comment. No one on planet earth wants to see Geale fight Golovkin again especially the American TV networks after Geales performance in their fight.

Very winnable fight for Geale on points as Cotto is a midget at middleweight.

Both get ironed out against Golovkin

I agree,DG could win against Cotto,it would be a good bout. Who is going to beat GGG is the question, he is avoided like the plague.
Although DG did not do so well,he had the balls to get in there.

Hope its true Geale will have a big stage to redeem himself on after his last two visit's to the USA.
Cotto over-rated Geale wins on points. :TU:

Did you watch the last fight? Geale had every reason to ask for an immediate rematch after the time keeping fiasco. On top of that he is fighting a guy who has been touted as the next opponent for GGG (Cotto). A good win will put Geale straight back in line.

What has Geale done to deserve a shot at Cotto? Quit against Golovkin? Beat his sparring partner Fletcher
If this fight does indeed happen it is a disgrace and an easy KO win for Cotto IMO.

Geale is willing to get in the ring against superstars, you have no chance if your not willing to get in the ring or cherry pick opponents

Geale is a cherry pick for Cotto, there are plenty of elite guys willing to fight Cotto like Golovkin & Canelo.

Cotto will stop Geale in 5 rounds or less.

Geale won 2 world titles prior to that and if he manages to beat Cotto that will make 3 :TU:

Geale hasn't won a meaningful fight since 2012.

Geale schooled Mundine in 2013 and made a packet of folding stuff in the process. Most would rate that as meaningful.

The year before that he won a world title from Sturm and the year before that another world title from Sylvester.

Yep MP you are correct as usual. :TU: It's a stay busy fight for Cotto until one of the big guns becomes available for a fight.

You got to be kidding mate, why should the long round have only been considered a disadvantage for Geale and not Golovkin?
