I know Sky talk rubbish, but their is some very good kids. Loftus, Kes, Daniel, Lowther. Good, good lads. Jack Bateson and little Denzil as well of course.

As I posted a couple of yr back when I was working on the Leeds arena can see it been a real purple patch for Leeds. Although you've had Derek Roche and a few others keeping the flag flying would it be fair to say this is the best crop of fighters Leeds have produced since Henry, Micheal Gale,Manners bros, Tony Silkstone(rip),Denzil snr, Franny Hogg and the rest of st pats turned over mickey?

I enjoyed those days. Leeds Town Hall & Leeds Irish Centre.

Irish centre was heaving phil sellars still puts great shows on for burmatofts there.

And I'm from York! Obviously been around a few Leeds gyms in my time, but Billy Wilson at York Abc, Henry's , and Jorvik are doing brilliant as well. Good times for Yorkshire boxing.

A big name promoter really needs to snap Damo Jones up. It didn't work out when he was Warren, but it's a massive shame that he hasn't been featured on at least one Warrington undercard.

Went to the Hennessey bill at the Town Hall last year & enjoyed that although not many locals on. Bob Ajisafe from Leeds & Darren Tetley from Bradford was on i recall. Saw Steve Mennell on the Stuey Hall undercard at the arena but that was after the main event so only the die hards there.

In fact I think Damo Jones was on the Town Hall show too.

Mennel, not bad. Jones exceptional. Wish Danny Reynolds would have got more of a chance to show his stuff. He was good. Shame it ended when it did.

Leeds boxing is definitely buzzing, some great stuff going on and top fighters coming through.

Damo Jones is high quality lad, not many will outbox him with his pedigree, looks strong as an ox now too, and still maturing.

Mennell good too, his last fight a few weeks ago he showed glimpses of real class; excellent footwork, punch picking and body attack, especially for a novice pro.

Adil Anwar had a rough run but still a good fighter capable of some decent wins and maybe pushing towards another British title shot i reckon.

Outstanding crop of amateurs turning pro in the next couple of years like you mentioned Mickey, had the privilege of watching these lads develop in the gym since they were kids, amazing to see them now boxing for their country and picking up international medals.
Ashley Vanzie through to the ABA quarters again, big puncher who commits to his shots, will be fireworks in the pro game.

As discussed on another thread, top amateur doesn't guarantee pro success and i've got my own opinions on who will fare best, but it's all positive for the sport.

I've got a young light heavy who will be turning over in the next 18-24 months, will make an impact imo; well schooled, heavy handed box-puncher, with the added bonus of a trainer with film star good looks and the charisma of a prime Peter McNeeley

Reynolds was a hard lad, shame he turned over late, personal problems etc

I sparred him a good few times, with a stone and a half weight advantage, and he still put me on queer street a couple of times, v.spiteful puncher

I think Ashley beat young Denz. The other week in the abas. I think Lowther will turn over well, but then I'll pr get a load of abuse for loving travellers...

He did pal, browne did ok early on but vanzies experience told in the end.

Apart from that he's alright.

Crispy sounds like he's got issues with Leeds

There's good and bad in every city and town.

I don't know we what to say to that, there are people that do their best for other people and like to help out. There are bound to be a few unsavoury characters, it's a tough sport - it attracts tough people.
