Looks like they finally decided on the third fight that'll be on the Floyd vs Manny PPV. No word on who his opponent will be, but the leading contenders are his barber, his mailman & his brother in law.

Worst PPV undercard in the history of ever. To no surprise. Lomo is -4000. Santa will probably be the same.

The main event totally stands on its own and will sell massively regardless of the content of the undercard. It's a pity that the promoters realize this fact and therefore don't feel a need to create a good undercard, but I'm sure this doesn't come as a big surprise to most anyone who follows the sport.
A good undercard could benefit the sport a lot though, as many casual and even non-boxing fans will be watching, so there's a good opportunity to catch their attention with some lesser known fighters.
I'd hope that the TBA opponent is Rigo, but I don't like getting my hopes up for no good reason.

I dis Quigg's oppostion & cardboard belt all the time, but Santa-Cruz feasts on nothing but ambulatory corpses. His record's more pumped up than the chest of a battery-farmed chicken.

Great the mega fight is finally happening but shame no decent undercard as it would have been good to fighters exposure.

Garcia v Matthysse was in the Canelo v Mayweather undercard

All the money that is being made is basically going to Floyd&Manny. There isn't enough money to bring in good match-ups. Vetyeka refused to fight Lomachenko on this card, because the money just wasn't there.
So it's pretty obvious that Leo will most likely fight another bum of the month in this fight that makes him look good.

Ridiculous. Keith Thurman vs Robert Guerrero & Danny Garcia vs Lamont Peterson both got put together for $2.7M each. That means its conceivable you could put 2 fights between top ten level opposition (top 3, top 5 in the case of Danny vs Lamont) for $5.5M on this PPV. Are you honestly telling me in a pool of $300M+ of profit for the fighters thats being talked about we can't find $5.5M for a quality undercard? Can't afford anything else to come out of the press conference war chest or something? Spent to much on the TV ad that makes Tosh.0 green screen action look like Gollum/LOTR level sh!!t?

I think sh!tty PPV undercards are probably long term statistically profitable is the thing. Bob is notorious for bad PPV undercards & I bet he gots stats that suggest its a long term losing proposition to have a loaded undercard. Maybe 80%+ (pulled this number straight for my ass, its obviously debatable, but I think most would agree its a high number) of the people buying the PPV care about ONLY the main fight. The undercard isn't accounting for many extra buys. And you could put the same quality undercard fight on some Showtime or HBO card & arguably (& this is where those Arum stats would come in at that I'm speculating on) make more money for the promoter. So basically you can create a HBO card around a fight that'll get loads of attention & make you some $$$ or you can throw the same fight on a PPV & few will give a damn about it since everyone is coming for the Main Event & it'll make you lil $$$.

Not condoning it fwiw, just saying business-wise there is likely a boring answer to why this happens so often then the imho ludacris & often used excuse that there isn't enough money.
