I have been seeing a lot of threads started about Floyd Mayweather's behavior outside the ring.
I am starting this one not as a rebuttal for those threads but in the interests of a more balanced view of the context in which this fight is taking place.
In other words, if we are going to say "So and so is no choirboy", we'd better be able to talk about both fighters.
This is a good article. It verifies the overall truth of Manny as a womanizing degenerate gambler and adulterer.
That changed for her in 2003 when Pacquiao knocked out Marco Antonio Barrera in San Antonio.
“That time I feel that, ‘Oh, Manny’s really famous,’ ” she said. “This is not only the Philippines. This is the whole world. This is very different. So is our lifestyle. And the people surrounding us also.”
She spoke plainly about what happened next, without emotion: the all-night gambling binges, the cock farm he owned in the Philippines, the “cheating” and “all the girls.” She said he “did not spend much time” with their four children. (She is currently pregnant with their fifth.)

Now, Jinkee has her own endorsements. She is also an elected official, chosen, she said, by Pacquiao because he did not want to pick between two friends who wanted his support. She won election easily.
The low point came in November 2011, when Pacquiao clashed with Juan Manuel Marquez for a third time. Pacquiao won by decision, but unconvincingly, and afterward, as a doctor stitched a deep cut above his right eye, Jinkee scolded him in Tagalog. She repeated “bad Manny” in English as they recited some of the Ten Commandments — “thou shalt not commit adultery” included — and organized a Bible study session upon their return home.
Pacquiao had planned a recommitment ceremony for the next day, but Jinkee refused to participate. She said she had asked him for a separation. The boxer’s life was in turmoil.
It is impossible to know how much he actually changed afterward, but the entourage seems smaller, the vibe more relaxed. Roach asked Jinkee the other day if she was happy. She said yes.

The Manila Bulletin reported yesterday that welterweight titlist and international superstar Manny Pacquiao has been linked to an "attempted ambush" of a mayor in the Philippines. One of the vehicles used in the attempt is allegedly registered to Pacquiao's wife, Jinkee. The fighter has denied the charges that he was affiliated with the crime:
But Pacquiao, standard bearer of People’s Champ Movement, said the attempt to link him to the assassination try on Glan town mayor Enrique Yap Jr. was politically-motivated aimed at tainting his candidacy which has been gaining on his rival businessman Roy Chiongbian.
The two Toyota vans with plate numbers RBR 709 and MDM 577 were seized by the authorities from the suspects who allegedly attempted to ambush Yap.
Also taken from the suspects were an Armalite rifle and a .45 caliber pistol.
"These unfounded charges against me came out as a result of the recent survey which showed my candidacy was faring well against my opponent," Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao went on to further explain the possibility, which he does not deny, of the vehicle being registered to his wife:
Local television reports here showed Pacquiao denying involvement on the attempted ambush on Mayor Yap. Pacquiao did not discount the possibility though that they own the vans but explained that it could be one of their many vans in their transportation business which is being managed by Jinky.
Doesn't sound like this is going to be a big event for Pacquiao, but you never know, I suppose.

The late Perrett was driving home after delivering a speech at the municipal gym when he was waylaid by an undetermined number of men armed with M-16 and M-14 rifles and .45 caliber pistols.
Although wounded in the thigh, Perrett was able to drive his black Fortuner to the police checkpoint where he was given first aid. He was rushed to the hospital in General Santos City but died of cardiac arrest due to severe loss of blood.

Pacquiao apparently isn’t a good gambler himself.

One Pacquiao associate told SI’s Chris Mannix that Pacquiao, who has made between $20 million and $30 million per fight during the peak of his celebrated career, once asked promoter Bob Arum for a $2 million advance on one of his purses to pay off gambling debts. Arum acknowledged that he wired hundreds of thousands of dollars to casinos “five or six times” to help Pacquiao pay his debts.

Pacquiao continues: "God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other."
