When Joshua started out I am sure grwoling MC Mcdonald used to introduce him as "Your future people's champion"

Thankfully some sense had prevailed and this embarrassment has been dropped. However, who do you think was responsible for it?

It's unlikely it was Joshua himself as he seemed embarrassed by it. Could it have been the growling MC himself who decided to use it? Was it Eddie Hearn, showing his cheesy Essex colours? Or was it some overpaid media consultant who thought it was a good idea?

Either way it stank and it pleases me that it was kicked into touch. However I need to know who is responsible for it.

Anybody happen to know?

Got to be a marketing guy for them to be that out of touch!

Maybe McDonald just forgot last time like he forgot half of Paul Smiths name and all of Tony Dodsons.

I only know AJ through the IFL videos and Sky's hyped up coverage but I am kind of looking forward to him getting beaten.

I am sure he is a lovely guy but I just cant wait to see the train get derailed.

I am struggling to buy into it.

Will never understand this mentality of wanting to see someone fall for such minor reasons! AJ could be a huge world wide star if he fulfills his potential and that can only be a good thing for British boxing.

Agree I'm in no way a fan of Matchroom or Skys hype machines (look at my posts) but why want AJ to fail. I honestly do believe if handled correctly and brought on correctly he could be the biggest boxing star this countries ever had (times are different now). And while i agree its annoying when all the casuals who know fornicate all jump on bandwgons like this it would be great for British boxing.

There have been some bad nicknames in the past.

I remember for a couple of fights there was Scott 'the Real' Harrison; to differentiate himself from Audley I guess.

I always think 'The Golden Boy' is pretty cringe.... Sounds like a pornstar who specialises in water sports..... Then again with Oscar; it may be closer to the truth than we think

When he talks all you hear is sound bites and well rehearsed spiel. He should be himself a bit more, even if he might be an arsehole. Heavyweight champs should have an edge and be a bit nasty.

Agree, he comes across more like a footballer, overly media trained, but this is no reason to want to see him get KO'd. I hope he becomes a Boxing legend. He might show us more of his true personality as time goes on.

Agree. I think as the years go by and the stakes get higher we'll see more of a nasty streak in him. He's already been on record saying he wants to hurt folk in the ring so he obviously has a bit of devil in him. Even Lewis showed a bit of spite at times and he was as cool as they come.

Did you see the documentary on him where his old trainer said he wasn't nice to be around at one point? He's a rough lad come good, but you never truly lose that part of your personality. As you say, the more he gets tested, the more we'll see it.

I did see that yeah. You can see how he finishes folk off that he has that spite. Maybe he just needs someone to rub him up the wrong way. Charr would fit the bill there and Chisora of old lol.

Yeah true. That's a natural fight for somewhere down the line. A few of my mates can't stand Tyson but I actually find him quite funny at times. He's mental

Yeah it was odd. Suggested that he could only aspire to be a fan favourite rather than an actual world champ, bizarre in the extreme considering his potential.

I only really know about him from the same sources. But I'm not sure he is as nice as he makes out. He throws some spiteful shots and not just of the kind a boxer needs to win a fight or stop his man. I could well be wrong but as he progresses I think we might see a bit of a nasty streak emerge, Saying that it would liven things up a bit and will probably help against better opponents.

Wasnt he called the 'Real McCoy' and not just simply 'The Real' ? i could be wrong.

I dislike AJ's lack of emotion when he wins as if he has other places to be. He should still be delighted with a victory.
I dont wish him any misfortune but would piss myself if some other promotional outfit snapped him up out of matchrooms hands.
