Joseph Parker's activity

Just thinking, should Joseph Parker be fighting more often while he's in this formative period of his career?

Anthony Joshua will have had three fights between when Joe fought Pettaway and his next fight in Palmerston North. THREE!

I just think that while Joe is fighting guys of Pettaway's 'tomato can' standard he should at least be in the ring more often...

Agree, it doesn't all have to be big pay per view events, why not small hall shows against modest kiwi and Aussie heavyweights 4-6 rounders to keep busy, sparring is all well and good but nothing beats getting pro boxing rounds behind you.

Parker was given an opportunity to spar with klitschko
Anthony Joshua had the same opportunity
I know good things are coming for him

But he's sparred with klit before on a few occasions, nothing beats fighting.

I just hope Parker keeps winning and keeps learning along the way. He is young and I think he can made an impression at the top in a few years time.

no he hasnt. this was the first time. Parker has been offered sparring jobs with Klit before, but this was the first time he'd accepted.

Joshua's upcoming level of activity is anamolous, including by his standards. Since October 2014 until Parker's next fight, should it occur as planned, Joshua will probably have had 5 bouts while Parker will have had 4, which obviously isn't much of a difference.

Fourteen bouts in three years isn't what I'd consider low, although I'm sure Parker could've squeezed in some more fights.

Yes when you look at it as 5 v 4 it seems fine, but it's important to note that during that time period Joshua had three months on the couch with a serious back injury...

Interesting, to be honest I've stopped reading the herald and stuff.co.nz when it comes to Parker. He's a great prospect but there's continuous articles about him, even daily and I can't be bothered to rifle through the sh1t.

Joshua has a lot more fighters to choose from by living in London. Parker has only got the NZ fighters or tomato can fighters to choose from, he should at least go to Australia and fight a few Aussies.

It certainly is easier having all of Europe's fighters on your door step! Although strangely Joshua's two "warm-up" fights are against an American and an American-based Brazilian.

Parker is dual-based in Auckland and Vegas so could well slot in keep-busy fights with West Coast-based fighters like Rafael Zumbano Love, Vincente Sandez, Danny Batchelor, etc or Aussie fighters like Bowie Tupou, Lawrence Tuasa, Hunter Sam etc

The IBF Pan Pacific and IBF Australasian heavyweight titles are essentially vacant. Could be worth applying to fight for one.

It would be a good idea but would Duco be interested in paying the extra sanction fee for it

Could they just pay the IBF fee for one and not defend his other two titles every fight?

potentially yes but thats practically what everyone else does i guess
Parker gets a title and defends it like every champion should

That's certainly the honorable thing to do, but isn't the best way to get ranked by the IBF and WBC

He does have a wbc ranking (30) but not ibf

Yes but the common term of being 'ranked' is top 15

That is true but its still difficult to get into that top 40 in WBC
It took Parker a year to get a WBC ranking since he had his first Ranking in WBO (i think it was)

I've read on a couple of forums that the winner of Kyotaro Fujimoto vs. Nobuhiro Ishida 2 in Japan on Thursday will fight (get slaughtered by) Joseph Parker for a regional belt. Anyone able to clarify or erase this idea?

I think they announce it on friday but its a good idea since Kyotaro Fujimoto in WBC ranked

Also Nobuhiro Ishida is a former interim WBA World super welterweight Champ
So if Parker Beat his it would parkers first win against a former world champion

Has Ishida gone from Welterweight to heavyweight? That's a crazy leap!!

Also, you probably already know but on Duco Facebook it states Parker will fight in Auckland, then Hamilton after the Palmy and Invercargill bouts

Ishida had a two year gap before he did though he was fighting super middleweight

And yea for Duco i think they did the on purpose as a marketing tool
I dont think they are stupid to put that out there if they didnt want people to know

hamilton will be november - december
