As has been suggested by a few people, myself included, the British Masters titles are to live on in a slightly adjusted format on MBC sanctioned shows.

I don't think I am really onboard with the 'novice pro' concept personally but it is interesting I suppose.

How can shit like that be for the good of boxing as Luca Di Caro keeps telling us?

This was obviously going to happen, but the shoe fits. Bogus titles for a bogus organisation.

Boxing has got to be the only sport where something of FA Vase quality is constantly missold to the uneducated public as the the Champions League.

As it turns out the 'normal' Masters belts as well as the 'novice pro' version are now available on MBC shows.

I don't like the novice pro concept at all but as a low level boxer myself I was sorry to see the Masters belts killed off by the BBBoC. I will not be swapping my BBBoC license but the 'FA vase' of boxing was something I would have liked to have won. I think the FA vase comparison is a good one actually and I don't think they were ever sold as anything more than they were, essentially a trophy to add a little prestige to smaller shows.

This is the point in masters titles. as you say to those who win them they are glad to have the opportunity.

Just to add my point to the novice division.... im a bit undecided on it, but it appears they are targetting the unlicensed circuit... so it could actually turn out to be a good thing long term as it could mean alot of unlicensed lads actually become licensed and have proper brain scans etc.... we'll see on that though.

This is all good for boxing because of the medical sides within unlicensed (if thats what you want to call it. Me personally its not due to them having some shape of registration / licence). Lets see if the masters get slagged off or lose credit now its switched to MBC. Just remeber it was good enough for the bbbc once.

Masters titles have never been recognised by the BBBoC. The PBPA simply awarded the belts based on what the BBBoC officials decided. There was no cooperation from the BBBoC.

you see if im confused and ive been in boxing 20yrs + am and pro. To many belts on the bbbc. Along with other organisations to many belts.

I actually like the British and international masters.'my only gripes with it are the bronze and silver versions are totally unnecessary.'and it would be nice if they were defended from time to time. But every one at every level deserves a chance to win something.
Eg football has divisions and trophies all the way down levels

The Masters title were setup in conjunction and agreement with the board it is only of late that the BBBofC has not recognised them for various reasons.

When are they due to stop appearing on BBBoC shows? I'm due to see a fight for a Bronze Masters title on Saturday it could be my last one

In all fairness I've seen some decent fights for masters belts on small hall shows over the years. Like others have said when it was just the British Masters. I always thought of them as being similar to area title level but perhaps when the fighters weren't from the same area council so it couldn't be made for that. Then the silly silver/bronze etc ones came along.

The Masters Concept was IMO a good idea, not everyone in the sport can reach the top and if that means there's title up for grabs to boxers with win some lose some records so be it, they get a chance to win a title no matter how small it is, in there eyes it's the world title shot so fair play to them.
Also up and coming boxers get the chance to train in the gym for 8-10 rounders and if they so happen to go the distance it's good for them mentally

In a way its also fans fault, some people would think a bill's better because theres a so-called 'championship fight' topping it. Hence small promoters felt the need to have one everytime. I suppose thats the same with some people (idiots in my opinion) at all levels

Bronze and silver should be done away with. There's now going to be a European international title...

I don't agree personally with bronze and silver that is just money making

If we're going to have more belts to make local shows work and to incentiveise those who will never reach the top, let's make them local belts. City, borough, County champions. That way the better fighters in am area are more likely to fight each other, rather than winning a meaningless belt with no qualifying criteria against a journeyman who came to lose.

To be fair these new belts are only going to be on those MBC shows, all masters titles will dissapear from BBBoC shows as of end of May.

There does seem to be an increase in good Midlands area title fights being made local to me at the minute, whether that has anything to do with shows losing the Masters belts or just coincidence probably too early to tell.

Yeah you are right mate - why do they think that matching novice pros against each other in competitive fights is a good idea?

We should continue with the current business model - charge friends and family £40 each to watch their mate box somebody who is 2-50 and effectively paid to do a specific role.
