The best boxer I ever got to meet was Holyfield. Was seven years old, and I had won the "Arnold's Fitness For Kids" sweepstakes and we all went to Gold's Gym where Holyfield was also there (and MC Hammer). I think it was before the second Tyson fight. Dad shook hands with him. I was more interested in all the Hollywood props and (of course) The Terminator himself

My hero was Tommy Hearns. Never got to see him face to face but did go see him fight when he appeared in the UK. I met Paul Ingle face to face and have seen him a few times in Scarborough, however he wasnt a hero of mine as such but a great local kid from Yorkshire with bags of talent and courage. I met Barry McGuigan face to face but again hes not in my hero book. Infact McGuigan offered me a job many many years ago but did not fulfill his promise. I also emailed him regarding an issue which he contradicted himself on TV, he wasnt happy with my email and in respect told me that. My first hero as such was John Westgarth as he was headlining my first ever live show I attended. Luckily we are mates on Facebook and chat from time to time now.
