Always been a fan of dick tiger and having just finished 'dick tiger: the life and times of a boxing immortal'. He was grown even higher in my estimation!
Would unquestionaly have excelled in any era and a true trailblazer!!

Sorry, I meant to comment on this earlier.
Seems like he is a guy we mention in passing a lot but don't really focus on.
Tiger was a helluva fighter. He was exciting to watch and was willing to take on anyone. Three fights with Fullmer, two with Giardello, two with Griffith, and one with Benvenuti.
He also have wins over tough fighters that probably would have won WBS titles in recent times; Florentino Fernandez, Henry Hank, Spider Webb, Don Fullmer.
He even moves up to light heavyweight and wins the title, and beat Torres again. Probably would have won the Super Middleweight title had it existed back then.
How can you not respect a guy like this?

Another term that comes to mind..."soldier". He would fight anyone anytime....and strategy wise, that may have worked against him.
In this day and age with a top management company who selected his fights....he'd be champion for over a decade....and he'd dispense with FMJ in short order. At MW or above.
I'm not sayin' he needed to be overly managed, but he was a guy I wouldn't mind being shown a little respect, and pacing in his career.
Of course in the current field of talent, he could afford to just be a buzz saw. IMHO.
