just seen on the news that tickets for the fight still have not gone on general sale ? if not then what's going on ? anyone know anything different

They haven't and they might never with all tickets going through 'secondary' markets.

Rumour is that the contract between the promoters and the venue has not even actually been signed yet, possibly over a back-room dispute as to how many tickets go to each party each party (venue, sponsors, Mayweather camp, Pacquiao camp). Most of the blame seems to be on Mayweather Promotions who are doing this with the help from Golden Boy they've had in the past and who have sole responsibility for this.

I'm seriously starting to doubt if the fight is going to happen, I read this about the tickets and overall there has been hardly any promotion considering how big this fight is.

Why would they put them on public sale? The high rollers will be demanding them. Sky are promoting it constantly.

I thought the whole plan for this fight was that the tickets are never going to go on sale. The casinos aren't interested in me or you who might go to vegas for a weekend, pay $1500 for a ticket and drop a few grand over a weekend when they can give them to some capitalist/corrupt/fame hungry pig who will drop that kind of money and not bother picking it up

one of if not the biggest fight in recent history and no one from the general public can get a ticket....

I see Oscar Dela Hoya has been taking the mick out of the situation as well.

It's going to make for a really strange atmosphere too. Can't really see the mega rich chanting the name of the fighters or getting too hyped up during the fight. It will be like a football stadium full of the Prawn Sandwich Brigade, basically, the Emirates!

I've always said that I'll only believe the fight is going to happen when I actually see the two of them in the ring together with just them and a ref! It's been like a frickin soap opera from when their two names first got mentioned in the same sentence.

Who will get them then ?,surely not the average fight fan.

Was it not stated when the fight was announced that anyone wanting a ticket would need to have some sort of ridiculous 250k credit line with MGM? For a fight that's been 6 years in the making it's all very slap dash and unorganised! I read somewhere that the actual contracts haven't even been finalised yet either because what's on the contract doesn't match the terms that were agreed or some crap!

Is Lonesey about? He usually rocks up to these big events. It'd be interesting to hear if he's got any ticket details, as whilst he's obviously well to do, I don't think for a moment he's any sort of whale.

Loynesy will be there. It's not his cash they need, it's his knowledge.

I agree with this post,it's a retirement fund for both and will result in a September rematch,as fighters they are well out of order picking and choosing opponents,sitting on titles for years without defending properly,even down to choosing the refs and judges,it's rediculous,but the one thing that really does my head in is the catch weight fights that Manny seems to have lots of,always to suit him.This fight is making a shed load of money and the real fans are getting screwed as usual.

harsh mate, in this instance maybe...but they are both up there as superstars for the sport who have probably kept millions of people interested in boxing over the years.

That’s a fair point, I just feel that they could have generated even more interest a few years ago. Plus the whole thing is starting to look and feel a bit farcical. Boxing’s a farce anyway, but seems worse when it’s a top-level farce.

In this case I agree completely, I still can't get my head around the fact that no genuine fans won't be able to buy a ticket for the fight??

I hate to think that just because they have money/ friends in high places they can watch the fight when they probably don't have that much interest in boxing at all,

its just wrong and basically highlights what you are saying about it being a farce...completely agree with that part for sure

If I ever got a chance to watch a fight in Vegas, especially one of this magnitude, I'd be in my seat from when the doors open soaking up the experience. You see so many seats empty until close to the 'main event' it's sickening.

Anytime I go to York Hall even I like to get there early and queue on the steps so I'm at the front and can select my seat on the balcony.

The experience isn't quite what you might expect - the venue is quite small compared to some of the big ones in the UK - the MEN is bigger - the crowds are quite sedate - the atmosphere is not a patch on what I experienced at Hatton fights - not even close.

A lot of the people there just aren't that into boxing, they are rich and turn up because it's a big event, but fans they aren't, and often nobody is rooting for either guy.

I doubt many Filipinos will be there, unless Manny has paid for their tickets, because most of the true pacman fans from there couldn't dream of paying the price of the flight, let alone ticket.

I've been offered every level of ticket from top tier to ringside. $7250 to $90000.
The figures are laughable but someone will pay .....
