Bellew tweeted something criptic about McDonnell being shafted for the biggest fight of his life.
Reading more comments, including Jane Couch, it seems his trainer has just told him he's scared of flying so wont be travelling with him. Sounds like Coldwell is stepping in.
Many people dont give him a chance anyway, but where what effect will this have?

Disgusting from his trainer fear of flying can be a massive thing but you don't lead the camp on that your going to be travelling and then decide not at the very last minute a trainer is supposed to look after his fighter know matter what very unprofessional and Jamie now needs to have a serious think if that's the trainer for him when he gets back from Texas I know wouldn't have the same trust if I was in his shoes!!

He's in good hands with coldwell though and I hope he goes over there and wins the biggest fight of his career really do feel for the lad

I'm glad Dave has stepped in I really like him and I know he will do his upmost to keep Jamie in the right frame of mind despite whats happened.

He was until about 3 or 4 fights ago but stefy went his own way after oddly enough a fall out with Hulley

Sounds like someone getting the excuses in early the fighter cant bring the trainer into boxing the guy!

The WBO belt is far more credible than the WBA regular title or the super title, McDonnell is being packed off to America, without his trainer, to defend his plastic title against a Jap. Unless the moneys brilliant, I can't see what good it does him.

Non of you posting on this know anybody in that camp personally or whats happened clearly.. So to call Dave a coward is out of order. He's not had a mention over last 5 years whilst Jamie & Gav have picked up titles. He didn't "lead" anybody on.. Tried to fly & could do it. Not much you can do about phobias, its easy to say man up if you don't mind flying. His other trainer, brother & family are with him. Dave has joined them but he is his manager so you would have thought he'd have been going out soon anyway.

I hate flying myself and I'd love to go to LA but I would never fly to the states

I wonder if Joshua fights in the US will Tony Sims be allowed to go,he obviously wasnt allowed out for the Purdy-Alexander fight but I'm sure his son mentioned on Ringside he was in Texas

How did he get to France for the jerome Arnould fight i used to get up to the empress where they used to train back then and I'm sure it was by plane they got there may be wrong though

He's off to America to fight a genuine top-ten fighter. As boxing fans, isn't that what we should want to see British fighters with world class aspirations do? Or would you rather he stay at home and defend his plastic title (and you're right, it is) against lesser fighters?
