Okay if I must - Wlad Klitschko is certainly much better than most British boxers, hence more difficult to beat.

I wonder though if they are counting on Wlad vacating if Cornish becomes mandatory as it might be seen as too small a fight, or maybe paid step aside money

I was thinking that myself. Wlad has had that particular title for nearly ten years though and I'm not sure how many of the number one contenders he's fought have went through the IBO route? Cornish has to step it up before Gilmour starts making these noises. He was pencilled in to fight Sexton then Lewinson after Sexton withdrew to be fair but none of them happened. These are the type of guys he has to be fighting so we can see where he's at. I know he didn't have much on an amateur background so maybe that's why they are taking their time?

If he can get a home crowd in to watch him beat up Csala (I fully expect him to beat the Hungarian), why not? Csala is a step up from his other opponents, and if defending the IBO International means a mandatory shot at a recognised belt (and as long as WK carries the IBO Heavyweight belt into the ring, it is a respected title), good on him.

Will mention that the IBO International title has never been fought for before in heavyweight. Seems it goes International --> Intercontinental --> World.

I don't think he belongs at world level either but I wish any boxer the best of luck getting what they can with the tools they have.

Yeah likewise. I have really only seen the guy a couple of times to be honest but it was awful to watch. Maybe he has improved a bit?

I doubt it is something that anyone will have to worry about anytime soon, but as we know Wlad doesn't vacate.
I can't see that fight ever coming off and in the time it could take Wlad likely retires and the IBO would be the least fought over title that he leaves behind so perhaps he will get to box for the vacant title?

According to the article, Cornish is fighting the hungarian lad for the IBO international title, then hopes to fight for the Intercontinental belt.
Wouldn't mind seeing him in with Ustinov.

Good luck to him but i don't think he can climb much higher than british contender.

I don't think he'd even beat someone like Ian Lewison.

He's been in with the creme de le creme of Latvian boxing

they need to build his name off some over the hill guys first eg. Sprott, Skelton, Toney, Gavern, Fraudley etc...
