Been about 3-4 months since his title win, any news of his first defense? I figured they'd want him fighting somewhat frequently since he's in his prime right now. Wlad is fighting Fury so Wlad/Wilder probably can't happen until at least early 2016.

It's been reported that June 20th is being eyed for his first defense. I expected him to fight Cunningham but certain articles suggested that it would be someone else, though no names were given.

If he fights anything less than a top 10 ranked guy, he will get a huge amount of criticism, and rightfully so.

I wouldn't have that much of a problem with Cunningham, just because I think he got brutally robbed against Glazkov and he's a good guy who deserves a nice payday.

Povetkin would be great but that's probably a total fantasy. Pulev, Glazkov, or even Tony Thompson would be decent. Just please no Chris Arreola. Please.

Povetkin is fighting Perez, Wlad is probably fighting Fury next, Glazkov is probably going to bide his time until he cashes-in on the IBF mandatory shot at Klitschko, and Stiverne probably won't get an immediate rematch. Everyone from #6 - 15 seems like a plausible candidate to me, to varying degrees. Perhaps it will be Lucas Browne, Andy Ruiz, Tony Thompson, or Artur Szpilka.

Andy Ruiz might make some sense being Mexican a fight in Cali would be BIG or Vegas. He's undefeated and a puncher in his own right

I highly doubt that Wilder will fight a Top Rank or Main Events boxer in his voluntary title defense. He probably will fight Artur Szpilka, Steve Cunningham, Antonio Tarver or Chris Arreola since all are with Haymon.

Arreola would be a pathetic opponent.

I sure hope he doesn't take that bum (Arreola), Tarver is waiting for him and I think that would be a good scrap.

Scott is a great name to have on your cv, until you watch the fight and appreciate the circumstances. The Chisora bail out was bad, the Wilder one should be career ending.

Arreola would be the 2nd best name on Deontays record. Not a great first defence but not terrible.

I think that unless it is something big like Wlad or at least Fury, Haymon will keep feeding Wilder very beatable opponents.

I can't stand people hyping up that fat waste of space. Scott would beat Arreola, he is awful.

I think Arreola may be marginally better than Scott, when you factor in his durability and Scott's tendency to fall down and not get up against anyone with power.

That said, there are a LOT of better options for Wilder to face.

I would never hype him, i think he's average at best. But i dont think its a terrible fight for Wilder at this stage when in comparison to the rest of his cv..

Suggesting Arreola getting another title shot isn't terrible is overhyping him.

Wilder dominated Stiverne who easily beat fat boy Arreola twice. The fight is totally unacceptable.
