Kirkland, a good bet at 4-to-1?

Wondering what the gamblers of the forum think.

Logic dictates you go with Alvarez... but Kirkland can bang.

No Anne Wolfe?

No chance.

Kirkland is interesting, because he seems to have a poor chin early in fights but when he's made it out of that stage durability hasn't been an issue. I also believe that Alvarez has stamina problems, and once Kirkland gets going he has a style that makes opponents work hard to keep him off and he has the energy to sustain it.

While I suspect that Alvarez wins mainly due to his greater skill and won't be surprised if he does so fairly early, I'm interested in this fight.

Kirkland is tailor made for Canelo. This fight won't go the distance. As much flack as Canelo gets, he's a class operator and he's very strong at 154. I see a very one sided fight with Canelo outclassing Kirkland from start to finish in route to a stoppage before the 7th round. Kirkland has a punchers chance, but I find it very, very unlikely he lands anything that will hurt Canelo. Even if Canelo doesn't get Kirkland out of there early, Canelo will win on class alone and there's really nothing Kirkland can do to prevent from inevitably becoming target practice and getting beat up.

Even with what I saw from Kirkland while he was with Anne Wolf, Canelo and Kirkland are in a different class in a technical stand point. Kirkland isn't the next Mike Tyson, he's the next Jeff Lacy. Kirkland is overrated and not even Anne Wolf could help Kirkland from getting his ass kicked by Canelo.

Has anyone ever seen Kirkland hurt after the 1st, maybe 2nd round? In any fight? When his chin gets comfortable, he will push the pace. And Canelo likes mid range, and a slow pace. This is an interesting fight. I think it will be Canelo having an edge early on and then Kirkland starts a firefight. Should be a scorcher.

An early (5 rounds or less) KO by Canelo wouldn't surprise me at all. I think Kirkland's ring rust will show, and his shedding 40+ pounds the last couple of months will as well. When you see him looking trim and ripped now everyone will forget about that. The big weight drop showed big time with Anguelo, and I expect it to with Kirkland too.

Even if Kirkland was active, and didn't make the huge drop in weight, I would still bet on Canelo to win, but in a competitive fight. I hope I am wrong and it is a great fight.

Overrated by who? I think everyone pretty much has Kirkland as a B-level fighter, which he is.

Kirkland is a great bet at 4-1. If Wolf was in his corner, the odds would be a lot tighter but I really think Canelo has his hands full with this one. I personally think Canelo is one of the most overrated fighters in boxing but I have to give him credit for having the biggest balls in the sport. He'll take anyone on and doesn't seem to care about titles. He says he'll take anyone on and he does. Kirkland is a bad man and has been for every fight but one. Who knows what the heck happened in that fight when he got knocked out in the first? It didn't even seem like he got hit that hard but whatever. I'm expecting the good Kirkland showing up for this one, his biggest fight.

Canelo has the better chin of the two and I think that their power is pretty equal. Kirkland is faster IMO though. This has high potential at being FOY. Canelo is a way better fighter against boxers that stand and throw with little movement, like Kirkland, but i think it's worth the money to take a shot on Kirkland. Just watch the Tapia fight again and you will gain the confidence to throw the money on him.

Ann Wolfe or not Kirkland cannot outbox Canelo, make no doubts about it you won't see Saul standing toe to toe when he can simply outbox the straight ahead and crude brawler.

This will be an easy win for Alvarez. Kirkland's defense is non-existent.

Canelo will win this fight and I think he will dominate it and I don't even really like him. However, without Wolfe in the corner and as the trainer Kirkland is going to lose. Maybe an early round KO

I´m currently at thew Mexican sports book in Tijuana.

Canelo is a 6 1/2 -1 favorite (-650). Of course the Mexicans are all over Canelo and they should be. The weak chinned Kirkland will get drilled early, maybe within 3 rounds. No chin, no defense, no chance for Kirkland.

BTW, Mayweathewr was only a -170 favorite this morning but he has currently soared to a -240 choice with about 4 hours to go until fight time. Bettors apparently loved getting "Money" at a bargain price of less than 2-1 and jumped all over him.
So did I.

I can't even guesstimate how much money ive won betting FMJ to win fights by decision over his career. Probably $30,000. At least.
