Its when these big super fights happen I think about the crazy little old Italian man who was so entertaining in some of Joe's big fights. He was the equivalent of the Mayweather trainers over here IMO. Great in front of the camera, pure entertainment and a crazy personality.

Like him or loath him I hope we seen him again training top fighters.

Funnily enough I stumbled across a multi-part fly-on-the-wall documentary on youtube last week centred around the whole Calzaghe camp @ 5 years ago and it made me dislike Enzo quite a bit.
It`s no secret that Enzo`s a bit of a self-centred egomaniac but i didn`t realise quite how much until I watched the programmes.
Good motivator though as long as you`re agreeing with him,and the results speak for themselves I guess.

Could you give me a link to that,i'd like to have a look.I briefly me Enzo at the MEN arena a few years back,well it was both Enzo's actually and they were both friendly and signed autographs,old Enzo always appeared to me as if he could flip at any time and bite your ear off or something lol

Still the best trainer around. Made 3 world champions including training the best British fighter of all time- enzo, Rees and Joe. Also had clev up untill just before he won a world title and had price into a top domestic fighter who won and defended,the commonwealth several times. Joe Gallagher gets the best fighters around the north once there established and he still doesn't have a world champ, enzo had his fighters from the start in a small catchment area and created 3.

Bit of an ego but he was an entertaining character. Probably doesn't have the same drive and desire since Joe retired though so I'd be surprised to see him back.

I watched Calzaghe Clan when it was on a few years ago,it was on BBC Wales and I just stumbled on it when On demand,I liked it from what I remember, I'd like to see him back,British boxing's poorer without him and we need characters, they're ain't many around these days,certainly not in the mainstream

Last I seen him was when he was working with Kerry Hope i think but I can't remember if he was there when Hope beat Proksa for the European

Big difference between being a trainer and a promoter

I like him he was crackers but passionate and obviously knew how to get results I agree he should be involved as a pundit.

He made me laugh when he found his lads at the tea van eating hotdogs and drinking coffee when they should have been training. He picked up a huge branch and chased them with it. It was also funny watching little Enzo getting angry with big Enzo.

Boxing needs these types of characters mad as a two bob brush. Brilliant!

Joe was on the radio yesterday and said that he's been making a documentary featuring him and his dad called 'Mr Calzaghe.' Sounded like it might be out in the next few months.

Have always liked Enzo....Joe's book is very illuminating on his Dad, it seems that Enzo's ability to push certain buttons at the right time was a big part of JC's success story. Disliking Dad got Joe sharp and got him bitter/moody...but after the fight, they were inseperable.

Favourite Enzo quote is from JC's book. Some American clown called Nettles Nasser who'd been a cheerleader for Omar Sheika turned up again in the UK saying that Kabary Salem was going to give Joe a whipping/expose him. Enzo steams into Nettles at a presser as only Enzo could:

"You went home crying and sobbing the last time you were over here with Sheika and you'll be crying on the plane again. Salem has a better chance of crossing the Sahara barefoot than he has of beating Joe. I am fed up with your bullshit and yapping, you are like a feckin' goose, so take your tablets and shut up!"

It helped when Dean Powell booted him out of the way and gave good advice. Something he did on many occasions, he also did it to Vince Clev a few times amongst others.

I didn't mean during the Bhop fight i just meant in general as his career long trainer,he was poor during the Hopkins fight though i have to agree.

Definitely. His record speaks for itself. Powell helped a lot of the trainers out, much like Dennie Mancini used to.
