I'm not a religious type but do understand people's beliefs in religions and God, but Manny is constantly talking about how God has made him, he didn't even seem interested or confident in himself!

All he said was I thank god, God made it possible etc etc etc

He went on to say 'I hope we put on a good show, for the fans'

Floyd said the same, started on about God then went on to 'I hope we put on a show.'

This has been An absolute boring build up with no1 really interested in showing confidence or a mean aggressive side.

God has more important things to think about at moment than this fight like the earthquake that's happened in Nepal!!

I wish they would just get on with what people wanna see and that's big themselves up and show us there confident side and not rant on about religion and beliefs!!!!

There's not too many personalities in boxing these days,most of them say the same stuff over and over


Listen to Mayweather or Broner in an interview, they send you to sleep, Hopkins on the other hand has stuff to say not just trash talk but good at breaking down a fight

its such a commonality among fighters to invoke god as to be a cliché. you have to be pretty irrational I guess to punish yourself relentlessly, towards possibly getting permanently damaged. I will say that pacquiao does seem to have that holyfield type religo-mania, that he may well go down all guns blazing if has to.

Even Roach commented like he wad irritated about the god talk from Manny.

It's not like you won't win a match because of your religious beliefs or lack of it.

Most true believers are "obsessed" with God.

Not a religious guy either but I think Pacquiao talks of God alot in interviews as he knows that potentially millions of children/people are watching, all from similar 3rd world / terrible living condition backgrounds , so he tries to instill hope in them, for a better future. Unless you have lived in a 3rd world country, I think most ppl don't realise / appreciate how fortunate they are and how we all take things for granted so much...

Moving away from God, I noticed Pacquiao has seemed incredibly calm during the entire build up and final press conference, no sign of nerves creeping in even as the fight draws closer, unlike with Mayweather.

is there any sport where protagonists turn interviews
into gospels? anyone remembering holyfield? i am no
atheist, but i find these things often very displaced
and in the case of mayweather the "life style" seems
less holy than his talking. i have no problem with a
certain display of humility, but if concrete questions
about a bloody and highly lucrative fistfight turn into
sermons, i feel like having accidentally touched the
remote control, landing on a wrong channel.

i always felt that manny genuinely likes fighting
and looks forward to it. pretty unnatural in a way.
