IFL losing credibility?

It seems in the last year, Kugan Cassius has transformed IFLTV from a passionate source of boxing content to a walking billboard.

I dislike the term 'sellout' because more often than not, that word is used for people who are simply successful at adapting to their market. However, when they began bookending their videos with TWO sponsored idents, this channel became more about lining Helder and Cassius' pockets than providing a great product for boxing fans.

A couple of years ago I used to enjoy coming home from work and watching a few IFILMLONDON videos, but nowadays the only thing I watch on that channel is the Eddie Hearn Q&As because EH gives us a good insight into the industry. But I always skip the first 15 seconds because I couldn't give a fk about a Spanish boxing gym, energy foods or yet another betting company. Especially when it funds greed at the expense of content :shame:

Any thoughts?

They have to make money if they are going to do this full time.

Most Youtube companies have to give a shout out to their sponsor(s) at least once during their videos as part of the agreement. It's only a five second add on to the intro which is a lot less than others who sometimes give a full two minute 'plug'. Give them a break

I find they tend to do a lot more drivel lately. They could condense the videos a bit more, some of them are a waste of time and I get irritated that I've watched them.

Basically, less 'banter' more boxing talk please.

This is my stance as well. I have no real issue with them being sponsored but the stuff with Eddie Hearn now is just becoming tiresome

I rate IFLTV, i love what they do, they get my full support, but it seems to me they are aiming for quantity now. A lot of the stuff they are posting these days i personally have little to no interest in. I still tune in everyday to see whats on there but if truth be said i'm falling out of love with the channel.

I've no issue with the sponsors, they need to make the business pay, but the current Intros run to 20 seconds, thats to long IMO.

I like their stuff online. Their show on BN isn't great IMO. Obviously in that regard their hands are tied and they'll only really show BN fighters.

I thought this was going to be about how they were in the pocket of matchroom. Can't see anything wrong with them advertising to earn. If they sold their soul to matchroom and refused all other promoters thrn that would be an issue

Just skip the adverts then watch? I think it's a great source to watch parts of boxing that we wouldn't see without these types of channels good on them I say :TU:

The current adverts are too long and the quality has dropped but I fully understand this is the only way the lads are going to make the coin to keep the channel going. I personally wouldnt mind paying say £10 a year for a website where all the clips are, up coming fight info and maybe a blog or something alone them lines and then they can advertise and make coin that way instead of 20secs worth of adverts. They are still providing good clips for free so how some bods can call them sell outs is beyond me

Happy to admit I'm in the minority.

As I say, I've enjoyed a lot of the stuff they have done over the years but it's a shame that a boxing video needs to involve someone from The Only Way is Essex trying to eat a flapjack in 30 seconds.

If a sponsor improves their awful sound quality (even when on allegedly show) then I'm all for it

I like their videos, good luck to them if they earn few quid, I'm guessing it must be a full time job by the amount they upload, so they have to have financial reward in order to continue.

No issues with the adverts the lads did this for years for f all so fair play they deserve to make a few quid. However,I'm definetly not watching as much of their content last 6 to 8 months if I'm being honest maybe just eddies q and a and the weigh ins/pressers.

I think they are both doing an amazing job, and the adverts are such a small inconvenience for the coverage that is delivered.

It's a shame they have to do those 30 second flapjack challenge but it isnt like it is built into their interviews, theyre seperate videos so just watch them if you want to, and dont watch them if you dont want to.

Two top drawer guys who have brought great interviews to all boxing fans, if they have someone willing to help with the expenditure of producing these interviews then great, there no different from anyone else starting a business they have been given help,so fair play to everyone concererned :TU:

A lot of pressers and weigh-ins wouldn't have had any coverage at all, but for their recordings - so very grateful.

You need colossal views on youtube to make it pay, and in a marginalised sport such as boxing (as opposed to video gaming) then you need any extra help you can get from extra sponsors to carve out a living at it. It's obviously working because muscle food is now known to people on account of the intros and jokey flapjack videos.

My only tip would be that they start putting up videos in 720p as the 360p ones don't lend themselves to TV and there are a lot of youtube users whom have got TV boxes and consoles that watch their stuff on the big screen. I also believe that youtube indexes higher quality recordings of special events, over uploaders that have lower quality - so there is the added bonus of their stuff being the top result on youtube if they can nail that. I appreciate it might take longer for a larger video file to upload, and where time is of the essence that is their goal (to upload fast) and obviously sometimes you are relying on a dongle for speed from the venue, which can hinder things.

Joke of a thread. These lads do a great service to boxing and deserve to earn a few quid from it.
