Styles make fights, Hopkins is all wrong for Froch, he would fight extremely conservative and try to eek out a points win. Other than cashing out there is no reason for him to fight Hopkins, a win over Bhop at this stage of his career does nothing for Frochs resume IMO. Mind you, it would do more than Chavez ever would have.

Interesting to watch Ward on IFLTV yesterday, he's saying Froch has ducked a rematch with him so they went for Smith as a 2nd option. From what i could gather over recent weeks team Froch were saying it was Ward who was not playing ball for a rematch, Ward's just called bullsh*t on those claims.

I don't really want to see Froch fight Hopkins but if it's the only fight that's available for Froch to tick his last boxing goal, by fighting in Vegas then YES why not?

A win against Hopkins, even at this stage, would significantly improve Froch's resume. It would arguably be his best win.

There was no one better than Smith that they tried to get? Stieglitz, Sturm etc?

Also why is Ward vs Smith at a catchweight of 172 lbs? That seems strange.

10 years ago not now?

It's a bit like saying Khans best win was over Barrera?

Hopkins was a unified champion less than 6 months ago and he is still a top 3 ranked fighter at light heavyweight.

It would definitely be one of Froch's best wins and possibly his best win. It would also be a great introduction to the light heavyweight division for Froch if he wanted to continue fighting.

Probably wouldn't be in Vegas though, Hopkins has hardly ever fought there in the past and I can't see him fighting Froch there, would probably end up in Atlantic City.

Vegas or nothing I would have thought?

That will likely be Froch's attitude, but him fighting there depends on the opponent and Hopkins hasn't fought in Las Vegas for a long time, if the Kovalev fight wasn't there, I don't think a fight against Froch would be either.

I'm just not a Froch fan but if what he wants is a name opponent that he has a good chance of beating in Vegas, what more can he ask for?
Goldenboy would have no problems putting together a show on the strip and Hopkins seems happy to go for it.
I suspect that Froch will retire if he doesn't get a beatable name in LV.

It's a terrible fight,Bhop will stink the place out.

Hopkins is the LAST fight I'd want Froch to face. Win ugly or lose badly.

Aside from Ward there's nothing at SM for Carl in Vegas.

If I was his manager I'd be wary about having him fight again. Except against Ward. Not saying he'd win that but just from a motivational point of view

I still wish that he'd try Stevenson and/or Kovalev at 175. He's generally seemed firm on not moving up and I wonder if he doubts his chances against them.

A Hopkins fight would likely be ugly and BHOP did get thrashed in his last fight, but he's still a name, highly ranked, and it seems to me that despite not winning a round in his last outing there is a sizable group who like his chances against Froch,. It's certainly winnable for Froch, in fact I think that Hopkins may be overrated and I was surprised to see how many picked him to beat Kovalev, and if he wants a big American name for a US send-off I think it would be a relatively good option.

He looks content enough to me at the minute. I don't think he will box again.

Ward who has fought once in almost 2 years saying Froch had disappeared? And then saying Smith was willing to travel but he wouldn't fight in Nottingham and he could fill Wembley yet he can't get a mainstream broadcaster in the US. He seems a bit confused.

Ward seems a little delusional, he seems to confuse talent with selling ability. I must admit, I have some sympathy for him as he is in one of the only sports in the world where being the best in the world doesn't necessarily mean you get paid the most.
He also keeps saying no one wants to fight him yet from what I can gather, he has turned down fights with Froch, Kessler and Degale.

Froch will go for easy options. Not DeGale and definitely not Golovkin.

there isn't a fight to make in Vegas.
Ward, Hopkins or Golovkin in New York will be the best option Stateside...

I don't think Hopkins would be anywhere near Frochs best win. It's a hiding to nothing fight. I'd like to see him fight DeGale if he manages to overcome Dirrell.
